Rosewood Mandarina in Riviera Nayarit has opened Barra Peñasco, expanding the resort’s food and beverage program with a bar centered on element-focused cocktails and locally sourced ingredients. The bar opened this month above a secluded beach within the resort’s natural setting.

Rosewood Mandarina opened in May and has established a presence along Mexico’s Pacific Coast with programming tied to cultural experiences across three ecological environments. Barra Peñasco continues that approach through a menu based on earth, water, fire and air.

The bar is positioned on a cliff within forest surroundings. It operates during evening hours as the bar serves cocktails made with spirits and ingredients from the region. The concept draws from indigenous history and includes elements linked to traditions of the Cora and Wixárika communities.

Drinks are organized by elemental theme. Water selections include cocktails intended to reflect ocean influences and feature ingredients such as agave, kaffir lime and sea salt, as seen in the Peñasco. Earth selections incorporate items such as mushrooms, chiles and vegetables. One example is the Yubi, made with tequila, sotol, sherry, green tomato, jalapeño, pineapple and cilantro.

Fire selections include spirits with smoky profiles, with the Tatewari featuring dark rum, sweet vermouth, Ancho Reyes, mezcal, banana peel and cacao bitters. Air selections include lighter and aromatic combinations, including the Hikuri made with pox, gin, green apple and celery cordial and cucumber soda.

Barra Peñasco adds to the resort’s food and beverage venues and reflects an emphasis on local sourcing and ingredient-driven cocktails. The bar menu is structured around the region’s landscape and cultural references, and programming includes live entertainment during evening service.

The bar’s design and placement align with the natural setting, overlooking the coastline. Guests access the venue within the resort’s wooded areas near the shoreline. The cocktail program references regional botanicals and plants used in traditional practices.

Since opening earlier this year, Rosewood Mandarina has continued to add programming tied to the resort’s surroundings. Barra Peñasco extends that focus through beverage offerings connected to local ingredients and cultural influences.

The venue operates as part of Rosewood Mandarina’s broader development of guest experiences linked to the property’s environment and its Pacific Coast location. The bar contributes to the resort’s range of food and beverage options available to guests staying on site.
