HOTEL INDIGO RESORT DEBUTS IN THE MIDDLE EAST: IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened its first Hotel Indigo resort in the Middle East region with the opening of Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar Resort & Spa in Oman. Jabal Akhdar is a mountain range that is famed for its terraced gardens, canyons, ancient villages and cooler climate. The resort is situated 2,000 meters above sea level with 173 rooms, suites and chalets offering views of the mountains. The new property is about a two-hour drive from Muscat and a six-hour drive from Dubai. Amenities include three dining outlets as well as a spa with three wellness zones, thermal zones and indoor vitality pools. Part of IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio, Hotel Indigo had 158 properties globally and 133 more in its pipeline.
NEOM, ZANNIER PARTNER FOR ECO-RESORT: Zannier Hotels has entered into a partnership with NEOM to develop a new luxury eco-resort in Zardun, one of the destinations in Magna in northwest Saudi Arabia. Located along the Gulf of Aqaba, Zannier Zardun is situated within the 4 square kilometers of Zardun in a restored semi-desert landscape. Spread across three buildings, the resort will have 100 rooms and suites along with an experience center which will lead guests through an underground entrance leading to a 360-degree observation deck. Aligning with NEOM and Zannier Hotels’ commitment to preserve and enhance the environment, the resort will include oases to support diverse habitats and help in the reintroduction of indigenous animal, tree and plant species.
THG, HOGBACK TO BRING MARRIOTT STUDIORES IN MOSES LAKE, WASH.: The Hotel Group, an affiliate of Hotel Equities, partnered with co-owners Hogback Development Co. to acquire land to develop a Marriott StudioRes in Moses Lake, Wash. StudioRes is Marriott International’s newest midscale, extended-stay brand. Aiming to offer a home-like environment, the hotel will have a fitness center, laundry facilities, a communal table for guests to socialize, covered patio and a vending area. Each room will include fully equipped kitchens, an open closet concept and a “mudroom” area. Ground breaking on the property is scheduled for early 2025, with an expected opening date in spring 2026. The hotel marks the fifth hotel development project by The Hotel Group and Hogback. The hotel’s site sits adjacent to the co-owner’s open Fairfield Inn & Suites Moses Lake.
HOMETOWNE STUDIOS OPENS IN TAMPA, FLA.: Red Roof, the economy lodging brand, has opened the HomeTowne Studios Tampa Airport. Developed in partnership with owner and operator Dhruv Management, the new-build hotel features 124 rooms catering to long-term guests. The hotel offers rooms with kitchenettes along with laundry facilities, a fitness center, marketplace, business center and free coffee in the lobby. Dhruv Management and its construction partner, Dhruv Development, are currently building a HomeTowne Studios hotel in Bradenton, Fla. and has four more HomeTowne Studios in various stages of development.
