In recent years, short-form video content has become impossible to ignore. Almost every social platform, from Instagram Reels to YouTube Shorts, now offers its own version, providing quick, real-time information. Given this trend, it’s no surprise that many are now turning to TikTok for travel advice.

Within a day or two of the algorithm recognizing my upcoming trip to Portugal, casually scrolling through my “For You” page began to feel productive;
