The Ritz-Carlton, Portland has launched within a 35-story, 460-foot-tall crystalline tower imagined by locally based GBD Architects.

The white base of the building is inspired by the region’s columnar basalt formations, and it features a cascading series of stormwater planters that are activated by rainfall. The sleek silhouette culminates with a gem-shaped glass cap that is lit aglow at night.

The interiors, designed by ROAM Interior Design, marry the magic of the wilderness with modern luxury.

Upon entering the 251-room hotel, inclusive of 207 guestrooms and 44 suites, guests are welcomed into Forest Hall, a grand lobby that evokes the lush landscape of the Pacific Northwest, from rustic logs bound with copper (a nod to the historic 1845 coin toss that led to the naming of the city), to maps depicting Lewis & Clark’s journey.

Deeper into Forest Hall, a cozy fireplace in the library lounge is surrounded by backlit Verre églomisé glass.

Just beyond reception and the grand staircase, guests will discover an intimate lobby bar with floor-to-ceiling windows. Here, a mix of earthy design elements—such as indigenous woods, mossy green plants, and a light installation floating overhead—bring the outdoors inside.

A pioneering spirit continues throughout the property’s luxurious guestrooms and suites.

The accommodations nod to the forests and misty rivers of Oregon, as well as its history, through the use of sensual fabrics, soft carpets, leather goods, and modern interpretations of historic travel trunks, all accentuated by pops of the Ritz-Carlton’s signature blue.

The Ritz-Carlton Club and other amenities

Located on the 20th floor, the Ritz-Carlton Club is an intimate destination for guests who opt for club lounge access. Dedicated to the maker community, the lounge is filled with one-of-a-kind handmade treasures and local artwork. Also on this floor is the hotel’s signature restaurant by executive chef Pedro Almeida.

Additional amenities include 16,000 square feet of meeting and event space, a spa that boasts an infinity-edge pool with panoramic views of the Cascade Mountains, and a 4,000-square-foot fitness facility and yoga studio.
