Amadeus has announced an advancement towards more sustainable travel with the launch of its Travel Impact Suite, including the integration of the Travalyst carbon emissions methodology, the Travel Impact Model.

This solution, which is automatically implemented at no additional cost, provides the data and technology for travel sellers to highlight the environmental impact of a flight so that they are able to make more sustainable decisions.

The Travel Impact Suite is designed to “inform, mitigate, and compensate” through comprehensive solutions that allow travel sellers the option to prioritise more sustainable practices.

Under the “inform” part, Amadeus is introducing two new products within the Travel Impact Suite.

Firstly, Travel Impact Data Hub aggregates emissions data from various sources for travel activities covering flights, hotels, rail and cars, enabling travel sellers to convey and manage consistent information about the environmental impact of travel options.

To power the solution, Amadeus is leveraging new, as well as long-standing partnerships with ACRISS, ICAO, Greentripper, Greenview and Travalyst.

While, Travel Impact Explorer enables travel sellers to query the Data Hub to retrieve the environmental impact of a specific travel activity or for a whole trip.

The deep integration of the travel impact data within Amadeus’ systems, offer travel seller customers to select their preferred methodology for emissions calculations across various content types.

It also offers travel information, options and data on environmental impact for flights, rail, hotels, and cars within the Amadeus Travel Platform.

Olivier Girault, head of sustainability solutions, ESG office of Amadeus, said: “We are proud to continue to expand and enrich our travel content through the Travel Impact Suite.

“At Amadeus, we remain committed to developing and implementing travel solutions that offer our customers the option to prioritize more sustainable travel options.

“With our integrated methodology with Travalyst and other bodies, we can ensure consistency and granularity in carbon emissions data, providing a unified approach across the travel industry.”

He added: “Amadeus aims to deploy the Travel Impact Suite across all touchpoints, reaching various traveler and travel types, from online travel agencies to corporate booking tools.”

The Amadeus Travel Impact Suite will soon be complemented with the Travel Impact Booster, allowing travellers and corporations support for carbon projects through an integrated catalogue of options made available by CHOOOSE and other Amadeus partners such as CarbonClick.

This new content will be made accessible through APIs and, progressively, additional touchpoints.

Sally Davey, CEO of Travalyst, said: “Travalyst aims to change the way people travel by giving them access to clear, consistent and credible information in order to make better decisions.

“Scaling sustainability information, for example flight emissions, could not be done without the support of Amadeus, and the rest of our coalition partners, who are enabling us to get this crucial information out into the mainstream.”

Joseph Beaudin, CEO of CHOOOSE, added: “The collaboration between CHOOOSE and Amadeus jointly provides the technology enabling both new and existing mutual customers to expand their decarbonisation programs.

“The Travel Impact Suite makes it simpler for travel companies to access and distribute carbon offset and removal options, as well as Sustainable Aviation Fuel certificates (SAFc), into traveler journeys.”
