BOUTIQUE HOTEL IN PHILADELPHIA: Hotel Anna & Bel is set to open on August 7 in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood. Led by Philadelphia-based Foyer Project, the boutique hotel marks the real estate development company’s venture into the hospitality sector. The hotel will be operated by Life House. Hotel Anna & Bel features 50 rooms, with 45 rooms in the original main building and five in the adjoining annex townhouse. The hotel includes a restaurant from chef and restaurateur Tyler Akin of Form-Function Hospitality, a pool courtyard, wellness facilities and a fitness center. Caletta, a cocktail bar in collaboration with Akin, is scheduled to open later this summer. The historic hotel building was originally built as a mansion house in the 18th century and was converted into the Penn Asylum for Indigent Widows and Single Women in 1858. It was made co-ed in the 1900s and functioned as a retirement home. After it closed during the pandemic, the building was restored and reimagined by Foyer Project and designed by B March to reopen as the boutique hotel.
