Auberge Resorts Collection, the portfolio of luxury hotels, resorts and residences, has been selected by Reuben Brothers to manage Cambridge House in London.
Located in 94 Piccadilly, the Grade 1-listed Cambridge House originally operated as the In and Out Military Club in Mayfair. The building will be reimagined to open as a luxury hotel in late 2025.
Slated to reopen as Cambridge House, Auberge Resorts Collection is part of the London-based Reuben Brothers’ £1 billion ($1.3 billion) regeneration of the 1.3 prime acres of the Piccadilly Estate. This includes the prime residential development of One Carrington and the cobblestone streets of Shepherd Market.
“Cambridge House is one of the most exciting projects my family and I have ever brought to fruition,” said Jamie Reuben, principal, Reuben Brothers. “Our vision for this special property is not just to offer a new destination, but a new level of hospitality and something that London has not seen before. We chose Auberge Resorts Collection for the brand’s spirit of intention — to provide a distinct and unparalleled luxury hospitality experience.”
Aiming to serve as a retreat and a social hub, Cambridge House is anticipated to feature 102 rooms, along with a private members’ club. The building’s classic English heritage will be preserved, while adding modern touches. Jean-Louis Deniot will be leading the building’s conversion into the hotel, while Laura Gonzalez will design the club’s bars, dining options, spa and nine members’-only club rooms.
The hotel will have a range of dining options, including an open-air courtyard, a brasserie-style restaurant in a Georgian ballroom setting. In a statement, Auberge Resorts Collection said a culinary partnership will soon be announced.
Guests can access a double-level spa (featuring hydrotherapy facilities, two hated pools and seven treatment rooms), a gym, activity studios and a bathhouse. The hotel will also offer event spaces, including a ballroom.
The iconic Georgian mansion originally encompassed several historic properties. Commissioned by the second Earl of Egremont in 1756, the Palladian-style townhouse was built to entertain the then social and political elite of London and has even Queen Victoria. The building also served as Prime Minister Lord Palmerston’s proxy No. 10 Downing, home to the Duke of Cambridge and Lord Cholmondeley and the Naval and Military In and Out Club between 1865 and 1999.
The addition of Cambridge House to its portfolio comes at a time when Auberge Resorts Collection has been growing its footprint in Europe. The brand has more openings scheduled later this year, including the Collegio alla Querce, Auberge Resorts Collection in Florence, Italy which will be joining two more Auberge hotels in Europe — Domaine des Etangs, Auberge Resorts Collection in France and Grace Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection in Santorini, Greece.
The brand has more properties opening in urban locations, including The Shore Club, Auberge Resorts Collection in Miami Beach, Fla., The Knox, Auberge Resorts Collection in Dallas and The Hearst Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection in San Francisco.
