NEXGEN HOTELS EXPANDS INTO CALIFORNIA: NexGen Hotels, the Itasca, Ill.-based hotel development and management company, has acquired The Cole Hotel in Palm Springs, Calif. The boutique hotel will be managed by Genuine Hospitality Group. Located at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains, the 30-room adults-only hotel features an outdoor pool and lounge spaces, an outdoor courtyard with firepit, an outdoor bar and a bistro. Earlier known as the Bahama Hotel, the hotel was built in 1959.
MOXY HOTELS GROWS CHINA PORTFOLIO: Moxy Hotels, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio, has opened Moxy Chongqing. This marks the brand’s debut in Chongqing. Located close to the People’s Liberation Monument, the hotel offers 360 rooms, a restaurant, a bar on the 29th floor, fitness center and a 24×7 ironing room. Moxy Hotels has more than 135 hotels open in over 25 countries.
INTERCONTINENTAL OPENS IN SAN ANTONIO: InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, part of IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has opened the 390-room InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk. Owned by Trailbreak Partners along with Scarlett Hotel Group, the hotel features a rooftop pool onsite valet, a fitness center and a Club InterContinental Lounge. The luxury hotel includes four new restaurants and bars, more than 18,000 square feet of meeting space and the Les Clefs d’Or concierge service. Located close to the city’s River Walk, the 21-story hotel is within walking distance of several popular attractions.
THE ANSONBOROUGH’S UPCOMING OPENING: The Ansonborough Charleston, sourced, co-developed, capitalized and managed by Wright Investments, Inc. will open its doors in Charleston, S.C. on September 3, following extensive renovations. Earlier known as The Ansonborough Inn, the hotel was developed by Continental Hospitality Group. The hotel takes inspiration from Charleston’s oldest neighborhood established by Lord Anson, a British Royal Navy Officer, in the 1700s. The hotel building was originally built as a three-story stationer’s warehouse in the 1900s and has been restored by Studio 11 Design. The hotel offers 45 rooms, many with 16- to 20-foot-high ceilings and exposed brick and timbers. As part of the enhancements, the hotel has added a bar and rooftop garden and a private poker room.
