citizenM has expanded its footprint in Miami and opened its third location in the city. citizenM Miami South Beach is located close to the retail and restaurants of Lincoln Road in Miami’s South Beach.
The latest opening follows the launches of Miami Worldcenter in 2023 and Miami Brickell in 2022 and is part of citizenM’s expansion plans across the U.S.
“As a cultural hotspot, the busy streets of South Beach are bursting with the best fine-dining experiences, prime shopping, bustling nightlife and public art. With our curated selection of artwork, rooftop pool, and prime location, citizenM Miami South Beach will offer mobile citizens a great base to experience this incredible city,” said citizenM Chief Brand Officer Robin Chadha.
citizenM Miami South Beach joins the brand portfolio as the 36th property and follows the recent openings in Boston Back Bay, Austin Downtown, Menlo Park and other North American cities. When it opened in November 2023, the citizenM Menlo Park was the first-ever hotel to be built on the campus of global tech pioneer Meta.
Designed by citizenM’s long-term partner concrete Amsterdam and local architecture firm Gensler, citizenM Miami South Beach offers the brand’s signature “affordable luxury” experience.
The hotel features 168 signature citizenM rooms and amenities such as a living room catering to bleisure travelers, the brand’s signature canteenM (a 24×7 grab-and-go food and drinks bar) and collectionM (retail space offering a mix of travel essentials, souvenirs, gifts and books), a gym, two meeting rooms, an infinity pool at the rooftop and a hidden bar as well as an outdoor terrace on the second floor.
Combining contemporary design with local flavor, the hotel’s design showcases locally sourced art and high-tech amenities. The guestrooms feature XL king-size wall-to-wall beds and HD televisions with streaming options. The room’s ambiance, including the climate, blinds, television and lights, can be controlled through an in-room iPad using the citizenM app.
To celebrate and infuse the local flavor into its design, the hotel has commissioned eight original pieces of in-room art from Los Angeles-based artist Austin Call, Barbadian contemporary artist Akhila Watts, Florence-based artist and educator Robert Minverini and aLILscribble LLC CEO and artist Alannah Tiller. The hotel will also feature artwork from the KRC Collection, citizenM founder Rattan Chadha’s private collection, in the living room.
As part of its sustainability initiatives, the hotel has been built to adhere to environmental standards, which includes implementing measures to ensure energy efficiency, water conservation and waste reduction. The hotel is also working towards securing LEED Gold certification. This aligns with citizenM’s broader sustainable goals, with all of the brand’s hotels holding green building certifications or working towards achieving them.
Launched in 2008 with the vision to disrupt the “stale hotel industry,” citizenM has grown its portfolio to include 36 hotels across 21 cities across the U.S., Europe and Asia.
