A 2024 survey by Booking.com found that hotels are the most popular choice of accommodation for vacationers from Europe’s leading economies

Spanish travelers were most likely to choose a hotel over any other accommodation choice. By contrast French respondents did not have as strong a preference for hotels compared to the other nations surveyed with less than half indicating that they choose to stay in a hotel.
For the French and most other nationalities, staying with family or in an apartment were the leading alternatives to a hotel, however, for Italians the next most popular alternative was a bed & breakfast.
