La Bellezza will be a 150-cover trattoria that will also feature a ‘whimsical’ 25-cover terrace and will be located in the city’s Chamberlain Square.
It marks the group’s first regional restaurant in the UK, joining its five London venues Gloria, Jacuzzi, Circolo Popolare, Avo Mario, and Carlotta.
The site was previously home to Vinoteca in Birmingham’s Paradise development, which closed in May after less than a year of trading.
“Our main goal as restaurateurs is to bring to life the warmth and generosity of those little trattorias you find hidden throughout Italy. La Bellezza will be the epitome of this,” say co-founders Victor Lugger and Tigrane Seydoux (pictured).
“We are hugely excited to be coming to Birmingham, not only to be part of its incredibly vibrant restaurant community but to also bring our superb Italian products, which we spent three years personally sourcing from small family-run artisans, to another major European city.”
Big Mamma is also expected to open a further regional site in Manchester next year, as well as another London restaurant in Canary Wharf.
