Located on Clapham’s Northcote Road in the space that was most recently home to vegan restaurant VE Kitchen, Tamila is out to ‘redefine the curry house’ with a roti and curry-focused menu that has been trialled the Hackney Bridge food hall in Hackney Wick.

Other dishes will include Masala dosa, chicken lollipops and masala poori (wheat flour puffed fried bread served with coconut chutney and potato masala).

The menu echoes co-founder and executive chef Prince Durairaj’s South Indian heritage, featuring dishes from Tamil Nadu and across the subcontinent.

Tamila will have seating for 50 people inside, with additional outdoor seating in the warmer months (weather permitting).

“We’re excited to come south of the river, bringing Tamila to Clapham,” says Durairaj. “This isn’t just about opening a new restaurant; it’s about elevating the curry house experience to a whole new level. We can’t wait for you to taste what we’ve been working on.”

The former executive head chef of Roti King, Durairaj teamed up with Glen Leeson to launch The Tamil Prince in 2022 and followed up with the nearby The Tamil Crown late last year.

The Tamil Prince has featured on Restaurant’s list of the top 100 places to eat in the UK.
