Travel content technology company Smartvel has completed its acquisition of AVUXI, a provider of location-based content to travel businesses around the world.

Based in London, AVUXI’s flagship platform TopPlace, analyses geo-tagged BigData to uncover the highlights of entire cities and local areas.

The location knowledge platform instantly identifies popular places to visit and experience, transport links, restaurants and more.

Travellers can use it to quickly understand the best location for their stay and is used by OTAs and Metasearch sites to increase conversion and provide a richer high quality customer service.

Smartvel’s content technology helps travel businesses solve traveler pain points by providing the right content at the right time. Its extensive range of solutions include Trip Planner, Explore&Go, Event Calendar, TravelSEO, EntryDocs and others.

By integrating AVUXI into its suite of AI enriched technology, Smartvel will increase the scope of its product offering and create synergies with customers and also internally.

This latest acquisition is part of Smartvel’s long term strategy to solidify its position as market leaders in destination content.

Alexis Batle, founder and CEO of AVUXI said: “This strategic alignment marks an exciting new chapter for both companies, combining AVUXI’s advanced location context products with Smartvel’s comprehensive destination content solutions.

“Through this acquisition we will create a powerful combination in the travel industry.

He added: “AVUXI’s innovative positioning and relevance solutions will fit seamlessly with Smartvel’s AI enriched content and digital technology to collect, classify and geolocate all aspects of experiences, services and local places of interest in any destination worldwide.
