The Mauritian icon has been revitalised with a fresh, contemporary design, providing exciting culinary journeys and a variety of enriching experiences.

After 45 years of setting the standard for luxury in Mauritius, Shangri-La Le Touessrok, Mauritius, will re-open in style on the 19th October after its highly anticipated renovation. The extensive redesign has enhanced every facet of the resort, from its 185 guest rooms and suites, to its renowned restaurants and bars. The resort has been transformed into a chic, tropical playground, where the vibrant spirit and colourful essence of Mauritius is reflected in every detail. Nestled along the pristine shores of the east coast, Shangri-La Le Touessrok, Mauritius embodies a fresh, contemporary style, combining the country’s rich cultural heritage with the breathtaking natural beauty of the island, capturing the heart and soul of Mauritius.

Shangri-La Le Touessrok, Mauritius, has redefined its guest experience with interactive, light-filled spaces that deliver soulful luxury and the resort’s signature heartfelt Mauritian hospitality. “Our transformation has created an elegant tropical playground for both couples and families, blending the beauty of Mauritius with innovative design. From our newly reimagined sensory dining experiences to the artistic storytelling woven into every room, this redesign is a celebration of our guests’ desires for both adventure and relaxation in a place they can call their Shangri-La,” said General Manager, Gregory Coquet.

Design Inspired by Nature and Culture

The new design of Shangri-La Le Touessrok draws inspiration from the island’s natural beauty, infusing each room with light, airy spaces that mirror Mauritius’ landscape. A serene sandy beige colour palette, brings subtle floral and fauna motifs to life, while creating a tranquil atmosphere that invites guests to unwind in the island’s peaceful embrace. The design also honours local craftsmanship, featuring sculptural pieces and accessories inspired by traditional Mauritian weaving techniques.

Each room tells a unique story through thoughtful touches, from elegant rattan furnishings to black-and- white photography that captures the island’s cultural heritage. The guest experience is further enhanced by curated local delicacies and artisanal gifts, such as handcrafted batik scarves and Takamaka lychee wine, offering a taste of Mauritius’ authentic charm.

Innovative Culinary Journeys

This new chapter in Shangri-La Le Touessrok’s story unveils five renovated restaurants and bars, elevating its culinary and dining experience to new heights. This includes two brand new restaurants—TSK (Touessrok, Soul Kitchen) and Coco’s, along with enhancements to three existing outlets–restaurants Kushi and Safran, and Sega Bar.

TSK (Touessrok Soul Kitchen) echoes the layout of a Mauritian home with a lively kitchen, refined dining room, light filled terrace and an inviting library. Featuring live cooking stations, TSK offers a fusion of local Mauritian flavours and international cuisine with theatrical flair. Coco’s, a chic beach house, boasting panoramic views of Hibiscus Beach and lagoon, celebrates local flavours and fresh local seafood paired with a curated wine list. The laid-back restaurant and bar plays host to regular themed culinary nights in a fusion of colourful Mauritian and serene Côte d’Azur inspired spaces imbued with a French Riviera allure.

Hidden within the folds of Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok lies Kushi, a secluded haven where the delicate wonders of Japanese cuisine are both honoured and elevated. Meanwhile at the fiery heart of Indian restaurant Safran are the tandoor ovens, where guests can watch chefs prepare an array of tandoori delicacies and freshly baked naans that are as much a feast for the eyes as they are for the palate.

No evening is complete without a tipple at Sega Bar, affectionately referred to as the island’s living room. Rhythms of live local music fill the space, as guests sip on a curated collection of cocktails crafted from local rums and exotic fruits.

A Destination Like No Other

From adrenaline-fueled adventures to peaceful wellness escapes, Shangri-La Le Touessrok offers an unparalleled range of experiences. Whether exploring the private island of Ilot Mangénie, tasting vintage wines in the resort’s Vinoteca wine cellar, or relaxing on the resort’s pristine white-sand beaches, guests are invited to their own unforgettable moments of joy. New and reimagined experiences include honey harvesting, guided e-bike tours, private Champagne cruises, and bespoke beach dinners under the stars. Wellness seekers can unwind with Reiki sessions, Icoone treatments, and detoxifying Iyashi Dome therapies at Chi, The Spa, while the elevated beach experience—complete with a butler service, massages and luxurious amenities—ensures every moment is crafted for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Harmony with Nature and Sustainability

In keeping with Shangri-La’s commitment to protecting the environment, Shangri-La Le Touessrok’s renovation incorporates sustainable practices to preserve the island’s natural beauty for future generations. From eco-friendly materials, to initiatives that nurture the unique natural habitat surrounding the resort, this redesign ensures the property remains a secluded paradise in harmony with nature for generations to come.
