The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Fla. is preparing to rebrand under Hilton’s Signia brand. Currently managed by Hilton under its Curio Collection by Hilton, the historic resort will remain open during the transition.
The 36-story, 1,000-room resort, located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, will be renamed the Signia by Hilton Diplomat Beach Resort. As part of the rebranding, the hotel will feature a revitalized lobby, refurbished public spaces, enhanced interiors as well as open a new oceanfront event terrace, new bar and a new adults-only pool with cabanas.
A 6,600-square-foot Club Signia hospitality suite has been built on the hotel’s 33rd floor, a news report mentioned. It will have floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the Atlantic Ocean.
The hotel’s existing six dining venues and in-room dining programs are also being renovated. Once the renovations are complete, the hotel will offer four grand ballrooms, a 5,000-square-foot great hall, 39 breakout rooms and additional meeting spaces, according to CoStar.
The events-focused resort features 1,000 guest rooms and suites and over 200,000 square feet of integrated meeting and events space. The property consists of a twin-spired tower containing the guestrooms, a 15,000-square-foot spa, multiple pools and cascading waterfalls. The property sits on 10 acres of Atlantic Ocean beachfront offering kayaking, paddleboarding and jet ski rentals.
Prior to the ongoing renovations, the hotel underwent a comprehensive $90-million capital plan in 2018. In February 2023, a joint venture between Credit Suisse Asset Management and Trinity Fund Advisors LLC acquired the resort from Brookfield Properties. At the time of the sale, the transaction was the third biggest single-asset sale ever in the U.S. Earlier this year, JLL arranged $575 million in financing for the beachfront hotel through mortgage lenders, Citi and Deutsche Bank. JLL also led the hotel’s sale to Brookfield Properties.
The hotel recently appointed a new executive team, with Hilton veteran Dane Lean taking charge as the general manager and Ayesha Dogar joining as hotel manager. Other members of the team include Executive Chef Jorge Negron, Director of F&B Rachel Kapelner, Culinary Director Miguel Santiago, Director of Revenue Management Colby Cook, Director of Engineering Max Schroeder, Director of Sales Autumn Mullen and Director of Marketing Heather Hagelberger.
“It was important for us to have the right team in place to help us on the next chapter of the Diplomat,” CoStar quoted Lane as saying. “We’re truly excited to have this group assembled, and they’re focused on the successful transition during the enhancement phase and repositioning of the resort.”
This will be the fourth Signia-branded hotel in the U.S., joining operational properties in Atlanta, Orlando and San Jose. The brand is preparing to open another 800-room, new-build hotel in 2026 in Indianapolis. Another Signia hotel is scheduled to open in 2027 next to the Hilton West Palm Beach.
