Firm is trialling product in Randstad after success of service in UK

Travelex, a market leading foreign exchange brand, has launched a pilot of its home delivery service in The Netherlands, available exclusively to those in the Randstad area.

Qualifying customers ordering more than €600 cash in currency can have their order delivered to their home for free.

The home delivery option adds to the company’s Netherlands pre-trip offering, which also includes a click-and-collect service (which enables customers to pick up their online order from a store).

The launch of the home delivery pilot comes as Travelex aims to cater to the pre-trip market as comprehensively as the in-trip market, with Travelex recognising that customers are increasingly looking to secure their foreign currency prior to arriving at the airport.

The home delivery service has developed into one of the most popular ordering methods in the UK. Depending on the success of the Randstad pilot, which will run for three months, Travelex may look to expand the service further into The Netherlands, as well as to other European countries.

To be eligible for home delivery, customers will need to complete ID verification and comply with AML checks. Safety measures will also be implemented for couriers delivering the cash to customers.

Leonard Stolk, Europe commercial director of Travelex, said: “Our home delivery service has proven very popular with customers in the UK and we see huge potential to expand this further into Europe.

“Customers today want convenience and for many, this means getting their travel money in advance of their trip to save time at the airport or train station.”

He added: “We want to make sure we’re catering to these customers with our range of options.”

Travelex currently operates 50 retail stores in The Netherlands through the GWK Travelex brand.

Its outlets are located at Schiphol Airport, Eindhoven Airport and Rotterdam The Hague Airport, as well as in railway stations and city centre locations.
