Netherlands, Amsterdam, Holland.
October 24, 2024

Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, has completed a multi-million-dollar renovation, just in time for travelers visiting Amsterdam for the city’s lively fall event schedule. Collaborating with the creative studio D/DOCK, Corendon Hotels & Resorts has reimagined the property’s 207 suites and all public spaces, creating a fresh identity as part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio, which features characterful independent hotels around the world.

“Amsterdam invites travelers to revel in many adventures, but they would be doing an injustice to The Netherlands if the inner city is all that they experience,” said Atacan Uslu, managing director of Corendon Hotels & Resorts. “Our unique hotel serves as the gateway to The Netherlands’ most unique, authentic experiences and, over the years, has become synonymous with all that is special about the country. We invite travelers to start or end their journey with a stay at our newly reimagined property, setting the stage for an unforgettable Dutch adventure.”

Pioneering Design Merges Dutch Heritage with Modern Comforts

Every detail of Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport’s renovation was meticulously planned to elevate the guest experience. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a magnificent atrium, reimagined as ‘Corendon Central,’ filled with patterns reminiscent of Dutch skies and large-scale art offering insight into The Netherlands’ culture. This dynamic space is designed for interaction, exchange and connection, serving as a primary meeting point for business professionals. Throughout the public spaces, traditional Delft blue patterns on furnishings and unique designs on the carpets evoke Dutch maritime themes – from Amsterdam’s iconic canals to the nearby North Sea beaches. Committed to sustainable design, Corendon Hotels & Resorts reused 60 percent of its existing furniture during the renovation.

The hotel’s redesigned suites offer modern furnishings and freshly painted walls with spacious layouts. Each room is equipped with blackout curtains for a restful night’s sleep, complimentary in-room coffee and tea, a flat-screen television, a working desk and more.

Versatile Venues for Every Event

As a thriving event destination, the renovation also included enhancements to the hotel’s nearly 45,000 sq. ft. of versatile meeting and events space, which can hold up to 3,000 people across indoor flexible meeting rooms and outdoor gardens. Guests can ascend an open-air staircase to overlook the capacity of the hotel’s core where 11 flexible meeting venues can accommodate up to 400 guests in a mezzanine atop the atrium. Each named after a Dutch artist from history, the meeting rooms offer expansive views with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the hotel’s outdoor patio, the on-site Corendon Boeing 747 plane and the bustling nearby Schiphol Airport.

As an incredibly unique on-site venue, events can be hosted beneath the belly of the full-size Boeing 747 plane parked in the hotel’s patio garden. After 30 years of reliable service in commercial flight, the plane named ‘City of Bangkok’ rests in the hotel’s backyard paying homage to Corendon’s origins as an airline company. Meeting planners can reserve the patio beneath the plane as a one-of-a-kind venue for various celebrations. Guests are welcome to explore the plane both onboard and outside around the plane, take pictures and learn about the history of the 747.

Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport can accommodate a variety of events from corporate breakout sessions and educational seminars to intimate weddings, memorable celebrations and more.

“How many meeting professionals can say they’ve hosted an event beneath an international airliner?” said Niels Brugman, sales director at Corendon Hotels & Resorts. “Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport presents unique and functional venues for business professionals, meeting planners and groups of all kinds to celebrate or educate how they see fit. We look forward to assisting in the success of the plentiful meetings and events that come to our hotel in the remainder of 2024 and beyond.”

Culinary Indulgence with a Twist

Adding to its plentiful amenities, Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport features three on-site dining outlets: Mondi SkyBar 747, Corendon Bar & Bistro and All-You-Can-Eat Restaurant. Known for its vibrant Caribbean flavor and lively music, Mondi SkyBar 747 has been enhanced with the addition of a stage for daily musical talent, as well as new flooring, modern seating, an updated central cocktail bar and new tropical decor to immerse visitors in the island-inspired ambiance. Located on the rooftop, Mondi SkyBar 747 is a stylish spot for socializing while sipping on a curated selection of wines, premium liquors, beers and handcrafted cocktails, alongside delectable bar bites and shareable dishes. Guests can also relax on the outdoor terrace, which provides prime planespotting views of Schiphol Airport and panoramic vistas of the Dutch countryside.

At the hotel’s newly redesigned All-You-Can-Eat Restaurant, guests can enjoy a unique culinary experience with an extensive buffet showcasing international cuisines, from the Caribbean to Asia and beyond. With high-quality ingredients and expert culinary craftsmanship, this globally inspired dining experience includes interactive cooking demonstrations and artistically arranged self-serve platters, promising a sophisticated and immersive breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Guests will enjoy additional renovations in the lobby at Corendon Bar & Bistro with new flooring and furniture as they indulge in freshly baked pastries and caffeinated beverages in a peaceful setting. Throughout the day, Corendon Bar & Bistro offers freshly brewed Starbucks® coffee and on-the-go snacks. On weekend afternoons, guests can indulge in a delightful high tea service where they are treated to fresh sandwiches, scones, a variety of tempting pastries and a tantalizing selection of teas. In addition, the hotel has introduced an upscale dining option in Corendon Bar & Bistro, which now features an elevated dinner menu, as well as a multi-course seasonal menu specially prepared by Chef Justin Niessen.

Unforgettable Amenities Off the Runway

Guests can pamper themselves at Village Fitness and Village Spa & Wellness, the on-site exercise and relaxation amenities that offer well-rounded, high-end services. Village Fitness invites all guests to maintain their healthy lifestyle using weights and machines at their leisure. Meanwhile, Village Spa & Wellness offers a retreat after an exhausting day of adventure or a stressful travel experience. Visitors can reserve a variety of treatments and massages from the spa’s extensive menu of offerings.

The on-site Corendon Cinema is another distinctive touch where hotel visitors can indulge in a peaceful activity during their stay or an extended layover. The 78-seat movie theater features freshly popped popcorn, candy and other classic snacks for enjoying the latest cinematic releases.

“Sitting at the gateway to Amsterdam’s main international airport, our hotel is poised to host travelers of all kinds – families, business professionals and even Dutch locals,” said Evgeny Vreijling, general manager at Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. “From relaxing spa treatments to expertly crafted cocktails to one-of-a-kind tours of the Boeing 747 in our garden, we aim to create both a serene and engaging environment for transient guests – whether their travels are just beginning or coming to a close.”
