Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is strengthening its foothold in the extended stay segment and has entered into a franchise agreement with Reside, the residential hospitality management company, to add to its upscale, residence-style hotel portfolio. The 10-year development relationship will bring five residence-style hotels that are open or under currently under development to the Wyndham brand and debut the Wyndham Residence tier in the U.S.

Through the agreement, Wyndham will be expanding its offerings across the top 50 markets across the U.S. The new model caters to guests looking for both long-term, home-away-from-home units as well as those looking for a homebase for a short getaway.

“Reside has a proven track record as one of the most successful names in corporate housing. Whether you need a comfortable place to live for a prolonged time, or you simply need more space while traveling with a larger group, Reside’s model expands our extended-stay offerings, delivering premium, professionally managed accommodations in locations we know guests want to visit. By tapping into Wyndham’s distribution network, we help unlock new demand generators that can help scale their business to the next level,” said Wyndham’s Chief Development Officer Amit Sripathi.

For more than 30 years, the Seattle-based Reside has been managing and operating alternative accommodations and multi-family units with a special focus on furnished corporate housing. The company is currently present across 60 countries.

“By partnering with Wyndham, we unlock access to its expansive distribution channels—including its network of approximately 112 million enrolled loyalty members—and join forces in delivering the memorable experiences in iconic cities today’s extended-stay guests are craving,” said Reside Founder and CEO Lee Curtis.

With a steady uptick in the demand for the extended stay segment, Wyndham has been building its presence in this category with ECHO Suites Extended Stay by Wyndham, Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham and more recently, WaterWalk Extended Stay by Wyndham.

Wyndham has already several Wyndham Residence properties in some parts of the world, including in the U.A.E. and Greece. The partnership with Reside will help Wyndham establish its presence in key urban destinations, such as Seattle’s waterfront neighborhoods, the arts districts of downtown Houston and in Washington, D.C.

Open locations include Reside Seattle Downtown, a Wyndham Residence (a 55-room residence-style hotel with a gym, complimentary Wi-Fi, onsite laundry facilities and housekeeping for stays for more than five nights) and Reside Houston Downtown, a Wyndham Residence (a former auto showroom reimagined to open as a 70-key hotel with fully equipped kitchens, a fitness center and in-unit laundry).

Future locations include:

  • New Orleans: Located in the historic Bywater neighborhood, the 22-room hotel is about a mile away from the French Quarter. Besides offering washers and dryers in unit, the hotel will include a restaurant, art gallery and coffee and wine bars.
  • Washington, D.C.: Located close to the Barracks Row in the city’s Navy Yard, the 81-room property connects two buildings and includes in-room kitchen and laundry. A second hotel is located in DC’s NOMA neighborhood near downtown and Union Market. The 67-room hotel will have in-room kitchens and a gym.
