YOTEL, the hotel brand known for its tech-forward design and experiences, is set to open its first hotel in Japan. Scheduled to open on December 16, YOTEL Tokyo Ginza is located in central Ginza, the popular dining and shopping destination in Tokyo.

The new-build YOTEL Tokyo Ginza will have a range of room options that cater to the needs of guests — double, twin, bunk triple and family connected options. All the rooms will have YOTEL’s signature features, such as SmartBeds, Wi-Fi, wireless charging and rain showers. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the rooms will offer views of the Tokyo Tower, Ginza and the Shinkansen (bullet train) lines snaking across the city.

On the ground floor, guests can access a bar and restaurant with an all-day dining concept. The restaurant will serve breakfast to after-dinner drinks. Other facilities at the hotel include a Mission Control (reception area) with three self-service stations, a gym and robot crew.

The hotel’s public spaces are inspired by the streets and people of Ginza, featuring clean lines, warm wood tones and soft colors. Artworks will be created by local artist Mio Fukukawa for these spaces.

YOTEL Tokyo Ginza marks the brand’s third property in Asia, following openings of YOTEL Singapore in 2017 and YOTELAIR Singapore Changi Airport in 2019.

“We’re delighted to be launching YOTEL in Tokyo this December. Not only do we have a brilliant hotel in a prime location in one of the world’s greatest cities, we’re also excited to be opening in a destination that shares our commitment to innovation, smart design and the creative use of technology. It’s the perfect location for our new flagship property,” said Hubert Viriot, CEO at YOTEL.

Calling the Japan opening as the next step for the brand’s expansion strategy for Asia, Viriot said YOTEL has three more hotels in the pipeline — in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and NEOM.

“We have strong ambitions to continue growing the YOTEL footprint throughout the region,” he added.

London-based YOTEL has 23 properties open across the world under three brands — YOTEL (city center hotels), YOTELPAD (extended stay accommodations) and YOTELAIR (airport hotels). The company operates 15 city center hotels, six airport hotels and two airport hotels.

Originally created by YO! Founder Simon Woodroffe OBE, YOTEL’s major shareholders include a controlled affiliate of Starwood Capital Group, the Talal Jassim Al-Bahar Group, United Investment Portugal and Kuwait Real Estate Co.
