Radisson Hotel Group is expanding its luxury portfolio in Madrid with the upcoming debut of its first Radisson Collection hotel in Spain, scheduled to open in 2027. The new property will be located in the historic Generali Building on Alcala Street, one of the city’s key avenues, in the Canalejas area.
The Radisson Collection Madrid will be located in the center of Madrid, close to luxury retail stores, while its location on Alcala Street provides convenient access to major attractions.
The hotel will be housed in a heritage-protected classical building, which will undergo a redevelopment that integrates its historical architecture with modern amenities. The property will span 10 floors and feature 154 rooms and suites, with a rooftop.
“With a spectacular location, the arrival of our lifestyle luxury Radisson Collection brand in Madrid will be a catalyst to accelerate the development of Radisson Hotel Group in Spain, where we currently have 8 hotels in operation and now this landmark project under development, as well as some others that we will announce soon. We are proud to debut this project alongside Generali, a strategic partner of the Group with whom we have already collaborated in Rome and Venice. This will be an iconic hotel in Madrid and a privileged destination for both local and international guests.” – Federico J. González, Executive Vice Chairman of Radisson Hotel Group
The property will provide a range of amenities designed for both relaxation and business. It will feature a restaurant and bar on the first floor, LYON Bar, a rooftop bar and restaurant on the 13th floor with panoramic views of Madrid. The hotel will also offer a fitness center and spa, providing guests with facilities for wellness and relaxation, while the ground floor will include several retail spaces. Furthermore the hotel will be developed in partnership with Lamela architecture studio.
“The transformation of the iconic Alcalá 21 building into a Radisson Collection hotel represents another important step in our ongoing growth as investors in the European hospitality sector, with an incredible asset that enriches Generali’s hotel property portfolio. We are also very pleased to strengthen our cooperation with a top-tier global player like Radisson Hotel Group at the European level, following the successful collaborations on the prestigious Radisson Collection Hotel, Roma Antica in Rome and Radisson Collection Hotel, Palazzo Nani in Venice. We believe this is a great time to continue investing in Madrid, where we manage a high-quality real estate portfolio and, through our projects, contribute to the sustainable urban development of the city.” – Benedetto Giustiniani, Head of Southern Europe Region at Generali Real Estate
The Radisson Collection hotel in Madrid will be an important addition to Radisson Collection’s portfolio, which includes nearly 65 properties in major cities around the world. The Madrid location will join recent and upcoming projects in destinations such as Paris, Rome, Srinagar, Budapest, and Lake Como.
