Marriott International has grown its presence in Saudi Arabia and has added a Luxury Collection-branded hotel to its portfolio. The Luxury Collection has opened Bab Samhan, a new hotel located in the historic district of Diriyah, the birthplace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Situated near the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif, Diriyah is known for its historical significance and traditional Najdi architecture, with structures dating back to the 18th century. The hotel is named after one of Diriyah’s iconic gates.

Bab Samhan marks the first hotel to open in Diriyah and is designed to reflect the region’s cultural heritage.

“The hotel’s authentic Najdi design and deeply immersive experiences embody The Luxury Collection’s dedication to preserving and celebrating cultural heritage. We look forward to welcoming global explorers to this remarkable location, where every detail reflects the traditions, architecture, and spirit of Diriyah,” said Philipp Weghmann, vice president and global brand leader, The Luxury Collection.

Bab Samhan features 134 rooms and 23 suites. The interiors incorporate elements of Najdi design, with an emphasis on Arabian storytelling, including ancestral poetry. The hotel’s lobby has lounge-style seating and serves traditional beverages and snacks.

Three on-site restaurants offer a variety of regional and international dining options. Jareed, the signature restaurant, focuses on Najdi culinary traditions with dishes. Taleed, led by Chef Michael Mina, serves Mediterranean-inspired dishes with regional flavors. Medheef, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, features an open kitchen and seasonal menu options.

The hotel also offers wellness services at the spa, with body wraps, scrubs, meditation and yoga sessions; along with a fitness center. Event spaces are available for guests, including a 400-square-meter ballroom that can accommodate up to 250 persons.

Bab Samhan also offers cultural experiences, including guided tours of the nearby At-Turaif site, storytelling sessions, poetry readings and culinary tours that highlight the history and traditions of Saudi Arabia.

“We are proud to open the doors of Bab Samhan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Diriyah and invite global explorers to discover the history, culture and traditions of the region,” said Fabrice Ducry, general manager, Bab Samhan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Diriyah. “We look forward to welcoming guests who seek an unforgettable and immersive experience as they discover Saudi Arabia’s ancestral home.”
