Minor Hotels is expanding its presence in Europe with the soon-to-open NH Collection Alagna Mirtillo Rosso in Italy’s Pennine Alps.
The hotel will undergo renovations before reopening in March.
Located in the town of Alagna Valsesia at the foot of Monte Rosa, the hotel caters specifically to ski enthusiasts. The hotel sits close to the Alagna, a cable car, which carries visitors to the Monte Rosa Ski Hotel, an area that connects three valleys – Valsesia Valley, Gressoney Valley and Champoluc Valley. Here ski lovers can enjoy 150 kilometers of slopes between Piedmont and the Aosta Valley.
NH Collection Alagna Mirtillo Rosso will have 56 rooms along with a wellness center with a spa divided into a 300-square-meter adults-only area (with indoor and outdoor pools, a salt flotation pool, a whirlpool, two saunas, a Turkish bath and four treatment rooms) and another 400-square-meter area for families with indoor and outdoor pools.
The hotel will also have a garden, with a children’s play area and loungers, and a restaurant.
“The collaboration with Minor Hotels is a great opportunity for Mirtillo Rosso, the people who work here and all of Valsesia. Being part of such a relevant international group is an opportunity for development, but also a recognition of the value and beauty of this side of Monte Rosa,” said the hotel’s owner Lara Ponti. “I share the search for a sustainable business model, with strong values and deep local roots, through a focus on people and respect for the environment.”
The acquisition of the hotel helps NH Collection strengthen its presence in Italy. The brand is celebrating its 10th anniversary and currently has 17 hotels in some of Italy’s main cities, such as Rome, Milan, Florence, Venice, Taormina, Genoa, Verona and Turin.
“We are pleased to announce that such a special property, in the heart of the Alps, will become part of our portfolio, in a country as important to us as Italy, the European country with the second largest number of Minor Hotels properties,” said Dilip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels.
NH Collection brand is also present in the Piedmont region, specifically in Turin, with NH Collection Torino Piazza Carlina and NH Collection Torino Santo Stefano.
In total, Minor Hotels Europe & Americas has 60 properties in Italy under the Anantara, Tivoli, Avani, NH Collection, nhow and NH brands.
