W New Orleans – French Quarter is no more, but it’s still part of the Marriott brand family. The hotel is Hotel De La Poste – French Quarter, A Renaissance Hotel, owned by Melville Holdings and will be managed by Sage Hospitality Group.

This marks a return for Denver-based Sage Hospitality Group and CEO Walter Isenberg, who managed the property as Hotel de La Poste between 1989 and 1997. During that time, the hotel was a market leader in RevPAR, Sage said in a statement.

“We are thrilled to unveil Hotel De La Poste – French Quarter,” said Daniel del Olmo, president of Sage Hospitality Group. “This property holds a special place not only for New Orleans but also in our company’s history and we are honored to guide its transformation into a leading lifestyle property. We are very grateful for our new partnership with Melville Holdings and look forward to welcoming guests and offering them an unforgettable experience in the heart of New Orleans.”

Following a significant multi-million-dollar renovation in 2024, the hotel now offers 97 redesigned guest rooms and suites, including the spacious and private Carriage House Suite. The new interiors reflect New Orleans’ musical and historical influences, with bright jewel tones and locally inspired artwork. Located near Bourbon Street and the Mississippi River, the property offers amenities such as a heated pool, private courtyard and a 24-hour fitness center. The hotel also includes nearly 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

The hotel’s on-site restaurant, Third Block Depot Kitchen and Bar, will be operated by Sage Restaurant Concepts and serve a Creole-inspired menu.

“This transformation is both welcomed and significant to the future of this property and our organization,” said Melville Holdings President Craig Melville. “We anticipate improvement in all aspects of the hotel, from the guest experience to community involvement and our staff’s quality of life.”

Melville Holdings is an offshoot of Mountain Chalet Enterprises, a boutique hotel-focused family business. The Melville Family has properties in destination locations in Colorado, Louisiana and California.
