The Admiral Fell Inn, the waterfront hotel in Baltimore’s Fells Point neighborhood, is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation. The historic hotel will reopen in April as The William Fell, Tapestry Collection by Hilton.
Owned by Meyer Jabara Hotels for decades, the rebranded property aims to become a market leader in the area. Currently, the hotel operates under Choice Hotels’ Ascend Hotel Collection.
The William Fell marks the company’s third-owned property in Baltimore and its first Tapestry Collection by Hilton-branded hotel.
The redevelopment will preserve the building’s 18th-century exterior while modernizing its interior. Spearheaded by RD Jones + Associates, the hotel’s design will incorporate nautical-themed art, a coffee area, fitness center with access to the courtyard, meeting space and a boardroom with a wraparound terrace.
Room options will include two-bed queen rooms, suites with sitting areas and private balcony rooms overlooking Fells Point’s Thames Street. Local artwork will feature prominently throughout the hotel.
“We are delighted to be adding Hilton’s Tapestry Collection of independent hotels to the Meyer Jabara Hotels portfolio. This is an irreplaceable asset in a truly special neighborhood and it is surrounded by pubs, restaurants, shops and coffee bars along the scenic waterfront,” said Justin Jabara, president of Meyer Jabara Hotels, adding that the hotel was among the company’s prime assets.
Given Meyer Jabara’s “multigenerational relationship” with Hilton, reinvesting in the hotel’s infrastructure and design makes sense, Jabara said.
“Not only are we supporting a great brand partner and the ongoing revitalization of Fells Point’s commercial and historic districts (including the Broadway corridor), but we are giving our guests an authentic connection to Baltimore and a local adventure with every personalized stay.”
The hotel’s name pays homage to William Fell, the first settler of Fells Point, who helped establish the neighborhood as a major shipping hub. The property’s prime waterfront location offers easy access to the city’s historic and culinary attractions.
“With this extensive renovation and Hilton rebranding, The William Fell will be a crown jewel in our boutique portfolio and the Fells Point neighborhood. With this extensive renovation and Hilton rebranding, The William Fell will be a crown jewel in our boutique portfolio and in the Fells Point neighborhood. We are eager to introduce this property – with its new culinary offering and highest level of service – to historic southeastern Baltimore,” said Jabara.
The Danbury, Conn.-based Meyer Jabara Hotels currently operates 31 hotels and 20 restaurants across 12 states. The company was established in 1977 through the partnership of William Meyer a specialist in real property law, and Richard Jabara, a second-generation hotelier.
