USA, Cincinnati, Ohio.
January 23, 2025

Cincinnati, Ohio will soon unveil its latest addition to the Tribute Portfolio Hotel by Marriott collection with the opening of the much-anticipated Hotel Celare – a modern, sophisticated retreat located at 310 Straight Street – in The District at Clifton Heights. Nestled across from the University of Cincinnati and a short drive from downtown, the seven-story, 171-room property will offer an elevated culinary experience with an onsite restaurant and bar, bold design and modern amenities including a fitness center, locally curated market, and event spaces with outdoor terraces.

A collaboration between long-time partners Crawford Hoying and Shaner Hotel Group, Hotel Celare will open this winter, intentionally curating curiosity among travelers by fostering exploration and wonder through its design and experiences. Crawford Hoying serves as the owner and developer in partnership with Shaner Hotel Group as the operator. This serves as the first Cincinnati development project owned and operated by both parties, respectively. This landmark project not only redefines urban luxury but also represents a significant milestone for both companies.

“We are thrilled to introduce Hotel Celare to The District at Clifton Heights, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter for this vibrant community,” said Cincinnati native, Brent Crawford, Principal and Founder of Crawford Hoying.

Culinary Experiences at Hotel Celare

The Vick: Guests arriving at The Vick – on the seventh floor – will step into a rooftop escape where Cincinnati’s urban energy meets whimsical design and inventive cuisine. Its playful yet sophisticated atmosphere begins with a striking entrance featuring retro 1950s portraits and vibrant graffiti phrases. Neon lights, tubular furniture and geometric patterns invite guests to relax in style at the bar, high-top tables, or on the open-air terrace. At its heart, The Vick’s menu offering will feature dishes including Carpaccio Piemontese, Prosciutto & Fig, Baby Beets and Cheesecake Pops. Additionally, its signature bar offers creative cocktails paired with panoramic skyline views. Thoughtful touches like rooftop vending machines and cozy seating make The Vick a vibrant scene and background for all guests, blending creativity and community for a unique Cincinnati experience.

Iris Café: Tucked within Hotel Celare, Iris Café takes inspiration from the Greek goddess of the rainbow, offering artisanal breakfast delights like the signature Iris Coffee Cake, fresh pastries, and breakfast sandwiches, all crafted from locally sourced ingredients. By night, Iris Café will transform into a lively bar with handcrafted cocktails, fine wines, and artisanal beverages. The sleek space, featuring Steelite Sedona glassware and sustainable mini bottles, blends style and sustainability, creating a cozy, creative atmosphere where every meal is a celebration of flavor and quality.

“Collaborating with Crawford Hoying on Hotel Celare has been a wonderful experience and journey on this continued partnership,” said Plato Ghinos, President of Shaner Hotels. “Having worked with Crawford Hoying in the past, we knew that with their expertise and deep connections in curating the best team in architecture and design, we’d have the top development to visit in Cincinnati.”

Thoughtful, Bold Design + Artfully Playful

With architecture done by Meyers+Associates, guests will be greeted by Hotel Celare’s sleek, contemporary façade, featuring expansive windows and lively outdoor terraces that invite natural light into every corner. The exterior, which will have a 22-foot by-37’4″ mural by Miss Birdy, a well-known Ohio-based muralist and gallery artist showcases the Lazarus Lizard and illuminates the often-overlooked small creatures in our surroundings, celebrating the unique beauty of life that exists beneath our notice.

Interiors are designed by Texas-based design firm, Studio 11 Design, and have captured the spirit of modern exploration, weaving in vibrant colors, lush materials, plush furnishings and playful patterns that echo the innovative energy of the area. Every detail has been carefully crafted to offer a seamless blend of modern energy while still nodding to Cincinnati’s rich history, making the hotel a true standout for the city.

All guest rooms are thoughtfully designed to balance comfort and functionality, providing a sleek and modern space for every guest. Each room features a mini fridge and a Nespresso Coffee machine, making it easy to enjoy a morning pick-me-up or a late-night snack. Rooms are available in a variety of room types offering flexibility for business and leisure guests, families, groups and solo travelers.

Additionally, and for those needing to stay productive, each room is equipped with a comfortable workstation and complimentary Wi-Fi, ensuring seamless connectivity during your stay. The Molton Brown bath products in the modern bathrooms provide a touch of luxury, while each room is elegantly appointed with a rain shower, exquisite mirrors, and stylish fixtures for added convenience. Whether you’re visiting for work or leisure, the well-appointed rooms at Hotel Celare create a welcoming environment to unwind and recharge.
