Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts is rolling out major renovations across several of its Americas properties, adapting to the evolving needs of travelers. By the end of this year, IHG Hotels & Resorts projects that 70% of Crowne Plaza’s Americas locations will feature its updated “New Modern” design, which prioritizes flexible workspaces, social hubs and upgraded guest rooms.

The New Modern design has defined spaces for productivity, restoration and collaboration in enhanced public and guest areas. Updated guest rooms include furniture and amenities that ensure a smooth transition between work and relaxation. New communal zones have designated public and private work and leisure areas along with dining options.

“As the once firm lines between business and leisure travel blur further, Crowne Plaza remains a trusted leader at the forefront of serving the new blended traveler,” said Ginger Taggart, vice president of brand management for IHG’s global premium brands. “Our latest design approach introduces more inviting gathering spaces that inspire connection and enable guests to balance business and social interaction.”

Recent Renovations

  • Crowne Plaza Virginia Beach Town Center

After a full-scale transformation, the hotel’s 148 guest rooms feature modern furnishings and refined decor. Public spaces, including the lobby and meeting areas, have been redesigned for both comfort and functionality. The hotel has a revamped pool and a new flagship restaurant and lounge. The property is owned and managed by National Hospitality Services.

Expansion Plans

Crowne Plaza’s growth strategy includes the addition of over 36,000 rooms (the third most planned for an IHG brand) across nearly 150 hotels worldwide, expanding its room count by more than 35%. Upcoming openings include a 22-story Times Square location this spring, a 230-room property in Mexico City and a harborside hotel in Saint John, New Brunswick.
