Hamak Hotels, operators of the hotel property at Boulevard Mijares 30 SN Centro, recently announced Tropicana Los Cabos will join the Hilton portfolio, and the 70-room boutique hotel is now officially welcoming guests. The property conversion, with construction led by Fortem Capital, consists of renovations to the entire property, expanding the number of rooms, adding a pool and jacuzzi, incorporating a wellness center and enhancing the food and beverage offerings.

“Tropicana Inn had an iconic history as a welcoming meeting place for locals and travelers alike, and today, as Tropicana Los Cabos, it continues to be a beacon of true hospitality offering guests exceptional gastronomy, culturally immersive activities, and the opportunity to experience all the best things the region has to offer,” said Nicolás Domínguez, Director of Operations, Hamak Hotels. “We are excited to partner with this iconic hospitality brand to bring a fresh, new iteration of a historic hotel to the city of San Jose del Cabo.”

Tropicana Los Cabos offers guests traditional hacienda architecture accented with modern comforts and contemporary Mexican design elements. The boutique hotel features 68 rooms and two suites, and includes a heated pool and jacuzzi, a dedicated game room, as well as a wellness center with a full menu of services, classes and workshops, and 8,353 square feet of indoor and outdoor venue space for meetings and events. Tropicana Los Cabos also includes complimentary valet parking, free high-speed internet in guest rooms and common areas, as well as dog-friendly accommodations, and laundry and transportation services for an additional fee. Each guestroom includes a 55-inch flat screen HDTV, 300-thread count high quality linen, Nespresso coffeemaker, and minibar.

Tropicana Los Cabos features two distinct dining establishments: Tropicana, Cocina de las Californias – a restaurant dedicated to the diverse culinary legacy of the Californias with a “farm-to-table” philosophy and unyielding commitment to using only the finest regional ingredients; and El Patio – a Baja Mediterranean-inspired menu based around wheat, wine, olive oil, and the fresh catch of the day. Up on the second floor of Tropicana, Cocina de las Californias is an intimate six-seat bar, Misiones, strategically situated in front of an expansive window that overlooks Mijares Boulevard. The drink menu pays homage to the original California missionaries by infusing cocktails and spirits with the traditional remedy recipes used by them. Additionally, the pool bar at Tropicana Los Cabos is a poolside cantina inspired by the original Tropicana Inn, featuring classic cocktails like Black Manhattan, Piña Colada and The Acapulco Cocktail updated with unique twists.

In addition to extensive amenities on property, Tropicana Los Cabos also provides guests with local off property experiences – including e-bike tours downtown to the mission, exploring the harbor and perusing the local galleries – as well as partners with trusted vendors for regional excursions. For example, Tropicana Los Cabos works with Cabo Adventures to offer exclusive deals on seasonal whale watching expeditions and catamaran boat voyages to the iconic Cabo Arch. The boutique hotel also collaborates with Veleros Beach Club to provide guests with access to La Playa, one of the few swimmable beaches in Los Cabos, just eight minutes from the property. Hotel guests can book sunbeds or cabanas directly through Tropicana Los Cabos’ front desk team and receive a complimentary mocktail upon arrival.

Tropicana Los Cabos is part of Hilton Honors®, the award-winning guest loyalty program for Hilton’s 24 world-class brands. Hilton Honors members who book directly through preferred Hilton channels have access to instant benefits, including a flexible payment slider that allows members to choose nearly any combination of Points and money to book a stay, an exclusive member discount that can’t be found anywhere else and free standard WiFi. Members also have access to contactless technology exclusively through the industry-leading Hilton Honors mobile app, where Hilton Honors members can check-in, choose their room and access their room using Digital Key.
