Único Hotels plans to open a luxury boutique hotel in Asturias in 2028, with the conversion of the Palacio Jardón, a historic building located in Viavélez, a coastal village in the west of the region.
A hotel project in a historic palace
Built between 1914 and 1917, the Palacio Jardón was designed as a summer residence and was inspired by the Palais Basilewsky in Paris.
The main building and its annexes, covering a total area of 16,000 m², will be renovated to provide 24 rooms divided between the palace and its outbuildings, including the former gardener’s house, the vaquería and the garage house.
The project is led by architect Joaquín Noval and is based on a renovation that respects the natural setting and heritage.
Infrastructure integrated into the environment
The future complex will feature an outdoor spa with swimming pool, designed to minimise the impact on the landscape, a crystal invernadero (replacing the old tennis court) that will serve as a multi-purpose space for events and activities, sports tracks and leisure areas, incorporating sustainability and low environmental impact criteria, as well as gardens and an ecological vegetable patch, supporting sustainable resource management.
The hotel will also benefit from a photovoltaic energy system and a water recycling programme, in line with the We Care Group’s environmental commitments.
Asturias, a booming destination
Único Hotels’ move to Asturias is part of a dynamic of tourism growth in the region, driven by improvements to infrastructures and the enhancement of its natural and cultural heritage.
The destination is attracting more and more national and international travellers, making it a strategic location for hotel development.
‘We want Palacio Jardón to be a gateway to the authenticity of Asturias, a place where tradition and modernity meet.’ – Pau Guardans, founder of Único Hotels
Expansion of the Único Hotels Group
This project strengthens the presence of Único Hotels, which currently operates six hotels in Spain (Madrid, Costa Brava, Andalusia, Mallorca). The chain recently acquired Finca La Bobadilla, formerly managed by Barceló Hotel Group, and had announced its arrival in Argentina in 2023 before incorporating its Buenos Aires hotel into the Meliá Hotels International portfolio in 2025.
With this new opening, scheduled for 2028, Único Hotels is pursuing its strategy of enhancing historical heritage in exceptional locations, while incorporating principles of sustainability and authenticity.
