Following the success of its establishments in London and Ibiza, The Standard hotel brand is continuing its expansion in Europe with the opening of a new hotel in Brussels scheduled for May 2025. The new hotel will strengthen the brand’s presence in major European capitals.
A new landmark in Brussels
Located in the ZIN redevelopment project, a mixed-use complex combining flats, offices and retail space, The Standard, Brussels will occupy a refurbished tower of the former World Trade Center.
The hotel’s design, led by Verena Haller, Jaspers-Eyers Architects and Bernard Dubois Architects, blends post-war modernism with local architectural heritage, particularly influenced by Belgian Brutalists.
With 200 rooms and suites spread over 28 floors, the hotel will offer panoramic views over the city. The lobby, designed as a multi-purpose space, will transform throughout the day, from a relaxed lounge to an ideal venue for meetings. There is also a botanical garden.
Unique design and local inspiration
American 1970s architecture and post-modern Japanese architecture inspire the design of the rooms, while incorporating elements of Belgian design, such as the works of Henry Van de Velde.
The Standard, Brussels will offer three dining concepts, including a ground floor restaurant, Double Standard, which will offer cuisine inspired by American and Belgian bars. The mid-century modern lobby bar will complete the offer, while the 29th floor will be home to Lila29, a panoramic restaurant with 360-degree views of the city.
For the first time, The Standard will also offer suites for extended stays. These suites will feature a lounge, work area and kitchenette, with premium services including concierge, housekeeping and discounts on food and laundry.
