Premier Inn and Lechner Group have signed a contract to develop a hotel in Frankfurt Gateway Gardens, close to the airport. The project aims to meet the growing demand for accommodation close to Germany’s main air hub.

A strategic project in a dynamic district

Premier Inn, a subsidiary of the British group Whitbread PLC, and the Lechner Group are working together to develop a new hotel in Gateway Gardens, a business district conveniently located near Frankfurt airport.

The project involves the construction of a 202-room hotel and a large underground car park with around 40 parking spaces.

The land, acquired by Premier Inn Deutschland, is located in De-Saint-Exupéry-Straße. Construction work will begin once planning permission has been granted, scheduled for summer 2025. Once permission has been obtained, construction is expected to take less than 18 months, demonstrating both partners’ commitment to delivering a product within a short timeframe.

A partnership based on trust and technical innovation

This project is part of a series of collaborations between Premier Inn and the Lechner Group, notably in the town of Eschborn, near Frankfurt, where the two companies are building a 174-room hotel. Construction of the hotel in Eschborn began in December 2024 and is scheduled for completion in May 2026.

‘With the Lechner Group, we have a partner we can trust. This project at Gateway Gardens, coupled with innovative techniques such as modular construction, will enable us to achieve our growth objectives in this strategic region.’ – Kai Backeberg, Construction Director at Premier Inn Deutschland

‘We are delighted to be contributing to the development of Gateway Gardens with Premier Inn. The use of modular construction, with rooms prefabricated and fitted out in the factory, reduces construction time. Once the garage and ground floor structures have been completed, all 202 rooms will be installed in just two months. – Christian Hanisch, technical manager for modular construction at Lechner Group

An investment in Frankfurt’s future

The Gateway Gardens project underlines Premier Inn’s commitment to developing its presence in strategic locations, while optimising its construction processes.

The collaboration with the Lechner Group underlines Premier Inn’s ambition to strengthen its hotel network in Germany, while meeting the needs of business and leisure travellers in a key area such as Frankfurt. The chain also recently announced the signing of its 100th project in Germany, thus reaching a new milestone.
