Starhotels continues its growth strategy with the acquisition of the Hermitage Hotel & Resort in Forte dei Marmi, Italy. This acquisition marks Starhotels’ first resort addition to its luxury Starhotels Collezione portfolio, expanding its reach in the high-end Italian hospitality market.

Strengthening Starhotels’ luxury presence in Italy

Starhotels has announced the acquisition of the Hermitage Hotel & Resort in Forte dei Marmi, an iconic eco-friendly resort nestled within a lush park in Versilia. This strategic move reinforces Starhotels’ leadership in Italy’s luxury hospitality sector.

The resort, founded by the Maschietto family in the 1970s and renovated by architect Vittorio Maschietto, will be incorporated into the Starhotels Collezione portfolio by the end of the summer season in 2025.

“The Hermitage Hotel & Resort embodies the essence of Italian lifestyle, and we are thrilled to welcome it into our Starhotels Collezione. This acquisition represents our first resort and aligns perfectly with our expansion into the resort segment, while maintaining our commitment to high-quality, family-owned hospitality values.” – Elisabetta Fabri, President and CEO of Starhotels

 Resort’s offerings and sustainable approach

Set in a large park surrounded by pine forests with views of the Alpi Apuane, the resort features 59 rooms and suites, a restaurant, a large swimming pool, and a dedicated vegetable garden for the kitchen. These attributes make it an ideal destination for both family vacations and individual guests.

Starhotels plans to enhance the property by introducing a new spa and increasing its seasonal offerings. The resort will remain open during the spring and autumn seasons, ensuring it meets the demands of guests year-round. Targeted investments are expected to further improve the guest experience with additional services and sustainable initiatives that align with the hotel’s natural surroundings.

Strategic importance of Forte dei Marmi

Forte dei Marmi is widely regarded as one of Italy’s most elegant and iconic seaside destinations. Known for its high-quality tourism and luxurious lifestyle, the location is seen as a strategic addition to the Starhotels portfolio.

The acquisition will position the Hermitage Hotel & Resort as the first exclusive family resort in the area, offering a variety of activities and services for both families and individual travelers.

“This acquisition marks a significant step for us. It takes place in Tuscany, where our story began 45 years ago, and reflects our commitment to continuing the expansion of our luxury offerings while maintaining our values of family-owned hospitality.” – Elisabetta Fabri, President and CEO of Starhotels

Broader expansion plans for Starhotels

The acquisition of the Hermitage Hotel & Resort is part of Starhotels’ broader growth strategy for 2024 and beyond. Recent developments include the reopening of Hotel d’Inghilterra in Rome and plans to launch Hotel Gabrielli Venezia and Teatro Luxury Apartments in Florence by 2025.

These projects reflect Starhotels’ ongoing efforts to diversify its offerings across various high-end hospitality sectors while maintaining a focus on excellence. With the addition of the Hermitage Hotel & Resort, Starhotels continues to reinforce its presence in the luxury hospitality market, particularly in key Italian destinations.
