Atzaró Okavango Camp, the latest luxury property from the renowned Ibiza-based Atzaró Group, are very proud to announce they have been awarded the prestigious Conde Nast Traveller ‘Hot List’ Best New Hotels 2025 award.

This award firmly sets Atzaro Okavango on the Go-To list of top safari camps to visit in Africa this year.

The camp opened in June 2024, setting a new standard for safari camps in Botswana. This stunning oasis marries the glamour and allure of a classic safari experience with modern principles of conservation, sustainability, and authenticity.

Female safari guides introduced as part of the ABCF programme;

Atzaró Okavango is also very proud to announce for 2025 the introduction of female guides, in association with African Bush Camps. The African Bush Camps Foundation launched the Female Guides Program in 2021, beginning in Botswana and expanding into Zambia. The female guides currently based at Atzaró Okavango were originally trained and placed at other ABC camps through this broader initiative. The two-year training programme has included practical work, theory, and on-the-job training. Participants undergo thorough training with the African Guiding Academy, followed by Mokoro training, before taking up roles as trainee guides. The programme also provides mentorship, confidence-building, and career development in hospitality and conservation. Graduates emerge as highly competent guides, equipped with skills in wildlife, conservation, safety, photography, and tracking.

Atzaró Okavango partners in local sustainability and conservation projects to support the natural habitat and indigenous communities. With the African Bush Camps Foundation, the camp also has a community partnership with Ditsiping Village to support the local people and to safeguard the diverse wildlife found in the surrounding areas. ABCF provides after-school tutoring and exam preparation for learners aged 12–18 from Ditsiping. They have equipped a dedicated learning centre and appointed a full-time tutor to assist students in reaching their academic goals. ABCF has also partnered with the local health centre to provide transport for mobile clinic personnel, ensuring essential medical services reach this remote area. Additionally, a community borehole has been drilled to provide access to clean water.

Positioned in a private concession at the heart of the country’s Okavango Delta, Atzaró Okavango Camp offers exclusive access to one of the world’s most iconic wildlife areas. This remarkable location ensures absolute privacy and immersion in nature, while the camp’s accommodation and thoughtful service provide an unparalleled experience. Guests embark on guided game drives with expert trackers, spotting elephants, hippos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and the rare African wild dog, among the incredible wildlife.

The camp is located just a short helicopter ride away from Maun airport in Botswana. Located between the Moremi Game Reserve and the Gomoti Plains, this area is widely recognised as one of the most exclusive and wildlife-rich regions in all of Africa. Atzaró Okavango camp has partnered with African Bush Camps, a world-renowned provider of extraordinary safari experiences, ensuring only the best local bush knowledge and guiding expertise.

There are 12 romantic suites, eight stand-alone, plus two private villas which contain two suites each, all with plunge pools and elevated star-beds for the ultimate celestial evenings. An adjoining private viewing deck is the perfect spot for relaxing sundowners. Interiors feature parquet flooring, mid-century furnishings and antiques, the feel is a vintage and relaxed mix, with opulent African textiles, rugs, and canopied king-size beds. The suites and villas overlook the majestic lagoon and waterways. All accommodation has air conditioning, heating, and high-speed wi-fi, en-suite bathrooms, outdoor bath and shower for pure indulgence, at one with the views.

During their stay, guests enjoy the finest hospitality, with infused cocktails from the Palm Bar, an exquisite fine dining area, a fire-lit boma, a curated art gallery and boutique, plus a wine cellar. The camp’s unique wellness offering includes a state-of-the-art gym, yoga shala and an indulgent spa area with rejuvenating treatments. Guests can partake in sommelier-led wine tastings, and high-tea served on the observation deck, or cocktails and champagne at the 20-meter-long pool area adjacent to the lagoon, where hippos and elephants become constant companions. An Ancestral Boma area provides a sacred space dedicated to the region’s past generations, a perfect space for delicious sundowners before a thrilling safari night drive into the bush.

The Okavango Delta has been described as one of the last paradises and is a year-round nature-rich haven. With two distinct seasons, this abundant landscape is a must for nature enthusiasts. During the dry season, the annual flood water arrives, enticing animals and birds to this pristine aquatic ecosystem. During the dry winter months, elephants cross to remote islands, and there are concentrated animal sightings on the water. In the wet season, also known as the emerald season, migratory birds descend from the north and herbivores give birth in droves, luring carnivores into the area to hunt and feed. A safari at this time of the year promises dramatic afternoon thunderstorms and balmy evenings, vibrant birdlife, bright night skies perfect for spotting the stars and rejuvenated landscapes for vivid photographic safaris.

Activities include comfortable private guided game drives and night drives, as well as local community visits. There are guided safari hikes on foot, helicopter safaris, bush dining, open air cinema, photography safaris, fishing and dug-out mokoro canoe expeditions. For families there is a full range of children’s activities to enjoy.

Encouraging longer stays of 5 days or more, Atzaró Okavango Camp invites guests to fully relax amidst the wildlife and immerse themselves in the soothing sounds of nature. Guests are invited to indulge in the wellness and fitness facilities, able to follow their regimes, rejuvenate, and settle into the experience. Each private villa is equipped with its own vehicle and ranger, enhancing this ultimate safari stay.

There is an on-site solar farm, featuring cutting-edge photovoltaic technology with lithium-ion battery storage. All the water used undergoes purification via a state-of-the-art reverse osmosis treatment plant and is re-mineralised for use. The camp also operates with sustainable practices, from reducing plastic waste to utilising renewable energy sources as well as on-site organic matter waste composition of all organic kitchen waste.
