Motel One Group has posted a remarkable financial performance in 2024, with the company recording its highest annual turnover ever. Despite the challenges of a competitive market, the budget design hotel chain generated a turnover of EUR 980 million, marking a 15% increase compared to the previous year.

Financial performance and profitability

In the 2024 financial year, Motel One achieved a notable increase in key financial indicators. Revenues rose to EUR 979.6 million, up from EUR 851.5 million in 2023. The company’s EBITDAR increased by 14%, reaching EUR 532 million, with a stable margin of 54.3%.

Additionally, Management EBITDA saw a 13% growth, reaching EUR 265 million, reflecting the operational excellence and resilience of the company’s business model.

Network expansion and occupancy rates

The group’s success was driven by both network expansion and strong occupancy rates. Motel One expanded its footprint by adding five new hotels in 2024, increasing its total room count by 1,458 rooms.

This expansion included the opening of The Cloud One Hotels in Düsseldorf and Gdańsk and a new Motel One in Antwerp. The average occupancy rate reached 71%, with the fourth quarter of 2024 seeing a significant rise in performance, with a TRevPAR of EUR 102 and an occupancy rate of 74%.

Outlook for 2025

Looking ahead, Motel One has started 2025 with a positive outlook. The company plans to open five new hotels in Munich, London, Lisbon, Paris, and Vienna, adding 1,140 rooms to its portfolio. With strong financial figures and the successful performance of newly opened hotels in 2024, the group is well-positioned for continued growth.

The ongoing partnership with PAI Partners, set to complete in Q2 2025, will support Motel One’s next phase of international expansion, providing additional resources to continue this growth trajectory.

The strategic partnership with PAI Partners, which will acquire an 80% stake in the operational business, marks an important step in Motel One’s journey. Dieter Müller, the founder of Motel One, will continue to lead the company as Chairman.

With a robust pipeline of new openings and a strong market position, Motel One is poised for continued success in 2025 and beyond, driven by its proven ability to expand in key European markets and meet growing customer demand.
