UK: Lifestyle hotel and club brand Crafted will debut in late 2025 in East Sussex.

Created by Chris King, the co-founder of the Birch hotel concept, Crafted is described as a “series of life-friendly hotels and clubs, crafted by name, crated by nature”.

Crafted at Powdermills in East Sussex will mark the debut of the brand. Launching in late 2025, the property is built around a seven-acre private lake.

Housed in a Georgian Grade II-listed country house, the hotel will feature 55 rooms and suites designed by House of Dré. Amenities include pub, restaurant, cocktail bar, craft barn, art studio and members club.

Additional accommodation includes three cottages ranging from three to five-bedrooms. Each comes equipped with a kitchen diner and living space with a stove, while the larger of the cottages – the Lake House – comes with a private garden, outdoor pool, and a deck onto the lake.

Two creative spaces – the Craft Barn and Art Studio – will host activities including ceramics, printmaking, and other art-based experiences.

At its F&B venues, Crafted aims to reach 75 per cent British-sourced ingredients across its menus. The restaurant will be led by an executive chef yet to be announced, and the all-day pub can serve food from an outdoor open grill and wood-fired pizza oven.

King said: “Crafted at Powdermills is just the beginning. Over the coming years, Crafted will grow into a network of life-friendly hotels and clubs across the UK and beyond. Each one unique to its setting, but all sharing the same spirit: nature-first, creatively charged, and thoughtfully designed for balancing modern lives.”
