Greengage Solutions has relaunched its ECOsmart portal, the first AI-supported assessment system that enables business travel, hospitality and events organisations to secure ECOsmart sustainability certification more quickly and easily.

The first step in the Greengage ECOsmart certification process is an online survey to establish an organisation’s current position regarding sustainability so that an implementation action plan can be developed.

In the past, this could be time consuming process with data often having to be sourced from different parts of a business, manually extracted and input into the survey.

Organisations can now upload existing policies, reports and other resources to the ECOsmart portal where SMARTscan analyses them and extracts relevant data to answer the survey questions.

According to Greengage, when being tested SMARTscan completed up to 60% of the survey in a fraction of the time that it normally takes.  They say this means that organisations can start implementation and see results much more quickly.

SMARTscan performs four key functions:

•Analysing data from multiple sources to identify sustainability opportunities.

•Verifying sustainability statements against established standards, ensuring compliance with green claims regulations and preparing businesses for the requirements of the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

•Providing tailored and actionable sustainability recommendations based on venue-specific data.

•Monitoring implementation and progress toward sustainability goals

Greengage recognises that sustainability is an ongoing process, and organisations can use SMARTscan to chart their progress from ECOsmart Bronze status right up to Platinum level.

An additional benefit of SMARTscan is that it makes sustainability certification accessible to organisations without the budgets to employ sustainability experts.

Another new feature of the portal is Greengage’s partnership with Replacer, which that gives clients access to Replacer’s platform to find alternatives to single-use items such as bottles, cutlery, coffee capsules that are widely used throughout the sector.

Replacer helps organisations to reduce, eliminate, substitute or improve the end-of-life outcome of these items.

Louise Boyse, commercial director at Greengage Solutions, said: “Sustainability management has traditionally been time intensive, subjective and disconnected from action. SMARTscan AI changes that paradigm completely.

“Now, hospitality businesses can move from assessment to verified action in a fraction of the time, with greater accuracy and confidence that their sustainability claims meet rigorous standards.”
