Adagio, a leading European player in the apartment hotel sector, is opening its new Adagio Original London City East property, its fourth in London and ninth in the UK. The site features a central location, modern urban design and the introduction of the coliving concept.
Strategic location in the heart of London
Located in the immediate vicinity of the City business district and Aldgate East and Whitechapel underground stations, the hotel is accessible to both business and leisure travellers. Travellers will also be able to discover the vibrant Whitechapel district as well as a number of emblematic sites such as the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and Brick Lane.
The recently built building has a contemporary style inspired by local culture, with red brick used in a clean environment.
Adagio Original London City East offers 132 studios and flats equipped according to Adagio Original’s new Smart House concept. These open-plan, modular spaces, with multi-functional furniture, offer a comfortable environment suited to extended stays.
Launch of Adagio-style coliving in London
The property is also introducing five coliving flats, designed for business groups, families or friends travelling together. In this way, Adagio is responding to a growing demand, with coliving experiencing a real boom in major urban centres in recent years.
These units consist of four independent studios with individual bathrooms, grouped around communal areas including a fully-equipped kitchen and a shared lounge, encouraging conviviality while guaranteeing independence and comfort.
Local artist The Line Girl has created a unique mural that runs through the lobby, lifts and corridors, incorporating her black and white graphic style. This immersive work reflects the dynamism of the Whitechapel area, reinforcing the cultural identity of the venue.
This artistic integration is part of Adagio’s approach to offering accessible and emotionally engaging art within its properties.
A key step for Adagio in the UK
Arthur Jaeger, Chief Development & Real Estate Officer, said:
“The opening of the Adagio Original London City East, in the heart of London, represents a major step forward for Adagio. Firstly, because the UK is one of our priority development areas for the coming years. But above all because this site perfectly embodies our vision of the city: energetic and full of promise, multicultural and inclusive, rich in endless commercial opportunities and a thriving cultural scene. A perfect illustration of the spirit that guides our new FIRST strategic plan!”
This new aparthotel illustrates Adagio’s strategy of strengthening its urban presence, particularly in its historic markets, as CEO Xavier Desaulles explained to us in a recent interview.
