Choice Hotels International continues to broaden its global footprint, achieving growth in key markets such as Europe, the Caribbean, and Asia-Pacific. As of 2025, the company has added 31 hotels and more than 3,300 rooms outside the U.S., with over 11,000 rooms in the pipeline, marking a 95% increase in its global pipeline since the beginning of the year.

The company’s international expansion is driven by a focus on the upscale and upper-upscale segments, along with the introduction of new hotels in emerging markets.

Expanding in Europe

In Europe, Choice Hotels is making strides through strategic relationships and direct franchise agreements. One example is the partnership with Strawberry (formerly Nordic Choice Hotels, planning to open five new hotels in Scandinavia, including the Ice Hotel in Sweden, a part of the Ascend Collection and expects to add four more hotels later this year. This property, entirely constructed from ice, further establishes Choice Hotels in the region and highlights the brand’s commitment to offering unique guest experiences.

In France, Choice Hotels expanded its portfolio with 34 new properties between 2024 and 2025, including Comfort-branded aparthotels on the French Riviera and in Annecy, thanks to its partnership with Zenitude.

Strengthening position in Spain

In Spain, Choice Hotels continues to grow through its collaboration with Faranda Hotels, having added six new hotels in 2024, including the Hotel Faranda Rías Altas along Spain’s scenic Galician coastline. The company is also planning to add five more properties in the region this year through its partnership with Sercotel.

Growing presence in North America, Latin America, and China

Choice Hotels’ expansion isn’t limited to Europe. In North America, the company is focusing on growth in Canada, where it plans to introduce its first Cambria Hotel in Thunder Bay, Ontario, in 2026. This marks a key milestone as the brand continues to expand in key cities across North America.

In Latin America, Choice Hotels opened properties such as the Radisson San Luis Potosí in Mexico and the Radisson Riviera Panama, with plans for further expansion, including a new Radisson Blu hotel in Bariloche, Argentina, set to open by 2025.

Additionally, the company is increasing its presence in China, where its partnership with SSAW Hotels & Resorts adds more than 9,500 rooms to its Ascend Collection. This growth is part of a strategic effort to expand its portfolio in high-demand destinations across Asia.

Choice Hotels is also investing in technology, including its recent partnership with Mews, in order to support its global expansion, ensuring franchisees benefit from the company’s tools and resources.

“For the past several years, Choice Hotels’ international segment has achieved consistent annual growth across a number of meaningful metrics, and we’re poised to reach new milestones,” “This momentum is a testament to the strength of our agile, personalized service model, our world-class franchisee success system, and the cutting-edge tech tools that support it — all of which we continue to invest in to enhance the benefits owners gain by being part of Choice Hotels.”  – Ricardo Losada Revol, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the International division at Choice Hotels International.

With a growing pipeline and strategic investments in technology and partnerships, the company continues to cater to the needs of  travelers, offering quality, locally inspired stays in key global destinations.
