Flowers and Embroidery Plate in Shanghai

On Wednesday 11th June, the unique dining experience will be led by an expert Chinese Chef, celebrating Shanghai’s rich culinary heritage.

Le Cordon Bleu London is pleased to announce that, after a successful celebratory dinner in Paris in 2024, they now have the honour of hosting this exclusive event at CORD by Le Cordon Bleu, its flagship restaurant on Fleet Street, London, on Wednesday 11th June 2025. Titled “A Bite of Shanghai”, this special evening is part of the “Chinese Cuisine World Expression” event series, jointly organised by the Sino-Cultural Exchange Association of Shanghai, Shanghai Daily Group, and Le Cordon Bleu International.

Crispy Fried Prawns with Tomato Sauce and Potato Chrysanthemum

With a history stretching back 130 years, Le Cordon Bleu is the Leading Global Network of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institutes with over 35 institutes in over 20 countries. Since its foundation in 1895 in Paris, the institute has always stayed true to its philosophy of excellence, and today the international network trains over 20,000 students of over 100 nationalities each year. From initiation right through to university curricula in the fields of the culinary arts, restaurant, hospitality management and tourism. The Le Cordon Bleu global alumni network boasts numerous rising stars and outstanding careers, such as Pia Leon, Garima Arora, Gaston Acurio, Mary Berry, Yotam Ottolenghi, and Darren Chin.

Elegant Trio of Blossoming Delicacies

Throughout 2025, Le Cordon Bleu celebrates its 130th anniversary, and April 2025 marked the tenth anniversary of the opening of its Shanghai campus. Over the past decade, Le Cordon Bleu has promoted Sino-French culinary education exchange and collaboration, leveraging its international platform and savoir-faire to support Chinese cuisine’s broader recognition and appreciation. The London event commemorates this enduring spirit and highlights the cultural resonance of Chinese cuisine’s ongoing dialogue with the world.

Treasures Soup From Mountain and Sea

A Bite of Shanghai is orchestrated by Ren Defeng, a national expert chef from China and an inheritor of Shanghai-style culinary heritage, alongside Le Cordon Bleu London’s chef and sommelier team. Chef Ren’s refined menu is inspired by centuries of tradition, featuring standout dishes such as ‘沪上繁花锦绣盘 (translation: Flower and Embroidery Plate from Shanghai) and the delightful ‘游龙清影戏秋菊 (Crispy Fried Prawns with Tomato Sauce and Potato Chrysanthemum). Each dish is carefully crafted to celebrate Shanghai’s unique culinary lineage through both taste and poetic presentation, embodying oriental cultural sophistication.

The evening’s experience will be further enhanced by a wine pairing program curated by CORD’s award-winning head sommelier Jiachen Lu, offering a selection of fine international wines, authentic Chinese rice wine, and the prestigious Maotai liquor, specially brought from China for this dinner.

Tickets for this rare London taste of Le Cordon Bleu’s globally acclaimed ‘Chinese Cuisine World Expression’ series are £110 per person and £55 wine pairing and bookable online: Reservation at CORD Restaurant
