All the polls and surveys are unanimous: France is the destination of the summer of 2025. At a time when budget constraints are making themselves greatly felt, with 39% of French people wanting to reduce their holiday budget, domestic tourism is more popular than ever. However, according to GreenGo, this boom in local tourism is not just for financial reasons.

44% of French people say they want to (re)discover their country, 39% want to avoid long distances and 19% want to reduce their carbon footprint by travelling less. The growing ecological awareness that we have witnessed in recent years seems to be confirmed, and is now increasingly dictating travel choices.

Another major trend this summer is the search for alternative destinations to avoid the crowds. According to a Skyscanner study, 80% of French people say they want to choose a less popular destination for their summer holidays this year, and 67% prefer to visit a quiet, alternative destination rather than a popular, busy place.

June trends: a dynamic start to the season

The second half of June appears to be much more dynamic than last year, with higher booking rates for most of the panel studied.

In line with the trends observed for the May bridging period, the northern coastlines remain very attractive, with a 12-point difference for the Channel coast compared with June 2024. The North Atlantic coast also stands out with a relatively high booking rate (60.3%), confirming its role as the driving force observed in May.

Unsurprisingly, Paris has the highest booking rate (76.7%), followed by the Eastern Mediterranean (64.5%), which is slightly behind (-2.3%). By contrast, the capital is well ahead (+9.5%), having been spared the negative impact of the Olympic and Paralympic Games this year…
