Visit Cascais, in collaboration with sustainable travel solutions provider Breeze, has developed Cascais for Tomorrow, an innovative tool that enables visitors and event planners to measure the environmental impact of their stay or event and reduce it.

The Portuguese region of Cascais, renowned for its stunning coastline, protected landscape and rich cultural heritage, is already considered one of the world’s best sustainable tourist destinations globally.

As interest in the region grows, Visit Cascais is dedicated to carefully balancing tourism with the preservation of its natural environment and the quality of life for residents.

Cascais for Tomorrow highlights Visit Cascais’ ongoing commitment to sustainability by offering travellers and event organisers an easy way to evaluate their impact.

It also inspires users to support local community projects, ensuring every journey and event contributes to a lasting, positive legacy.

Powered by Breeze’s contribution methodology, the calculator converts users’ travel choices into a clear cost per tonne of emissions, offering a simple, tangible summary personalised to each trip or event.

Users can then take action to reduce their impact by investing in projects managed by environmental company Cascais Ambiente, which include reforestation, biodiversity restoration, conservation and sustainable land use within Cascais.

“The entire strategy of the Cascais Municipality is centred around people, ensuring the highest quality of life for everyone who lives, works, studies or visits our region,” said Bernardo Corrêa de Barros, President of Cascais Tourism Board.

“Cascais for Tomorrow is a significant step forward in our commitment to responsible tourism. We are excited to offer this tool, which empowers visitors to reduce their impact and support local initiatives that preserve Cascais as a sustainable and thriving destination.

“Our unique approach champions hyper-local projects, protecting landscapes and delivering tangible benefits to communities and stakeholders,” said Greg Reeves, CEO of Breeze.

“Importantly, our solution balances affordability and responsibility to enable everyone – from large organisations to solo travellers – to contribute to climate resilience.

“We’re proud to have partnered with Visit Cascais to introduce this innovative tool, helping travellers better understand their environmental impact and be encouraged to make a difference.”

Through this initiative, Visit Cascais continues to set a standard for responsible tourism, inviting domestic and international tourists and event professionals to engage with the destination in a way that leaves lasting, meaningful change.
