Expanding the global employability initiative

Amadeus has committed to being a long-term partner in the WSHA’s Employability Program, which is designed to provide young individuals with the necessary training and experience to start their careers in hospitality. The program will grow across multiple countries, delivering measurable impact in communities around the world.

The first pilot project with Amadeus launched in India in April, recruiting students in collaboration with Kherwadi, a local non-governmental organization. The initiative will assist 200 disadvantaged youth across Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi, in partnership with local hotels and global hospitality brands.

In addition to financial backing, Amadeus will offer its expertise through employee volunteering, mentoring, and hospitality software training, further strengthening the program’s reach and impact.

Expanding reach and impact in multiple countries

The Employability Program, currently operational in India, Egypt, and Sri Lanka, has already enabled over 6,000 young individuals to graduate with the skills necessary to start their careers in hospitality.

The success of the program is attributed to its collaborative model, which involves Alliance members, hotels, food and beverage businesses, local training partners, and non-profit organizations working together to address youth employment barriers, especially for women.

“We’re delighted to be working with Amadeus on this pilot, which will have a tremendous impact on local communities and serve as a model for the industry. This partnership with Amadeus illustrates how the hospitality sector can play a vital role in removing access barriers to employment and ultimately change lives.” – Glenn Mandziuk, CEO of the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance

Sustainability and social impact commitment

Francisco Pérez-Lozao Rüter, President of Hospitality at Amadeus, also emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility:

“At Amadeus, we believe sustainable hospitality means caring for the world around us and making a positive contribution to people, places, and the planet. This partnership is a testament to our commitment to drive social impact in communities where we operate all around the world.”

The WSHA represents over 66,000 hotels and 300 brands, with a network of over 50 expert partners. The Alliance is working towards a “Net Positive” hospitality industry, where the sector gives back to the destination more than it takes, further aligning with the sustainable growth of the industry.
