Acclaimed chef, Matt Abé, has unveiled the name of his highly anticipated restaurant in Mayfair: Bonheur by Matt Abé.
Opening in autumn 2025 at the site of the former Le Gavroche on Upper Brook Street, Bonheur by Matt Abé marks the chef’s first solo venture after 18 years under the mentorship of Gordon Ramsay and, most recently, his role as chef patron at the three Michelin-starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.
“Bonheur translates to ‘happiness’ in French, so for me, Bonheur is a place of escapism,” said Abé. “We’re breathing new life into an iconic site, creating a space that is elevated without overwhelming; that is warm, timeless, and comfortable; and that celebrates community, craftsmanship, and the bounty of the British Isles.”
Subtle nods to Abé’s Australian roots are woven throughout the interior design, spearheaded by Russell Sage Studio, while menus feature classically rooted cuisine with a contemporary touch, utilising the finest seasonal ingredients and underscoring Abé’s dedication to detail. Offering a personalised fine-dining experience, guests will have the freedom to choose between a more approachable á la carte selection or explore one of the carefully curated tasting menus.
For a more intimate encounter, the Chef’s Table, “Petit Bonheur”, will seat six guests for a front-row experience of the kitchen’s artistry and Abé’s philosophy of open, collaborative cooking.
Bonheur marks a new chapter for Abé, spotlighting his focus on mentorship as he steps into one of London’s most iconic dining venues – one that has seen some of the world’s most celebrated chefs work its kitchen. Bonheur will honour its storied legacy, while developing a new generation of talent poised to shape the future of fine dining.
Further details, including reservations, opening dates, and menus, will be announced soon.
