Dusit International has taken on the management of Tantawan Tented Camp, a tented retreat in the mountains of Chiang Rai. The property combines northern Thai traditions with a strong commitment to sustainability and is set to become a living showcase of Dusit’s group-wide Tree of Life programme.

“Managing Tantawan Tented Camp gives us a fantastic opportunity to bring the Tree of Life vision to life beyond our branded properties and showcase our commitment to having a positive impact wherever we operate,” said Gilles Cretallaz, COO, Dusit International. “From sourcing food directly from the farm to providing education and training for girls and young women, this property shows how sustainability and hospitality can work hand in hand. With work experience opportunities through our educational arm, we can create transformative pathways for the next generation while offering guests an unforgettable and meaningful experience.”

Located 40 minutes from Chiang Rai International Airport, the boutique retreat offers 10 safari-style tents with handcrafted teak furniture, private bathrooms and valley views. Guests can take part in trekking, cooking classes, meditation sessions and tree-planting programmes designed to connect them with local culture and the environment.

The camp is closely affiliated with Sunflower Organic Farm, a residential home for girls run by Friends of Thai Daughters, a non-profit that provides shelter, education and support to ethnic minority hill tribe girls at risk of trafficking. Dusit will expand support through training and workshops delivered by Dusit Thani College and The Food School, along with structured work experience at Tantawan and other Dusit properties.

Guests can tour the farm that supplies the camp with herbs, eggs and produce. At Reu Doo Gaan restaurant, dishes are prepared with farm ingredients and other local products, highlighting the flavors of northern Thailand while supporting responsible practices.

Facilities include a swimming pool surrounded by palms and wildflowers, an amphitheatre for outdoor movie nights and a bonfire. Visitors can try archery, visit hill tribes, explore an elephant sanctuary or book a private forest picnic with artisanal breads, seasonal salads, cheeses and house-made specialties. Sunflower Farm also offers two covered and lighted pickleball courts.

Creative workshops such as pottery, glass painting and Tung making introduce families to Lanna traditions. The handmade banners once used to bless homes and temples symbolize values including fortune, protection and prosperity.
