Tbilisi-based 10:10 Interiors has renovated part of the Lopota Lake Resort & Spa in Georgia‘s Kakheti wine region, introducing a colour palette that evokes the surrounding landscape and clay vessels used in traditional winemaking.

Located in the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains, the hotel offers a range of accommodation organised around a lake, with the region’s nature and culture forming the centrepiece of the guest experience.

10:10 Interiors, headed by designers Sandro Lominashvili and Nanka Dolidze, was tasked with redesigning 84 rooms spread across four buildings at the 60-hectare family-owned estate.

“The goal was not simply to deliver standard comfort, but to offer a sense of place – an experience that reflects Kakheti, its history, its materials, its landscapes and its traditions,” the designers told Dezeen.

The renovated rooms combine a minimalist sensibility with a distinctly Georgian character, marrying clean architectural lines with carefully crafted artisanal details.

All of the guest rooms feature private balconies with views of the mountains and the estate’s grounds, which informed the green hue and palette of organic textures used in some of the spaces.

Other rooms nod to the region’s winemaking heritage, with terracotta-coloured walls evoking Georgian qvevri vessels that have been used to make wine for more than 8,000 years and are still employed in the estate’s own winery to this day.

“We used natural materials like clay, wood, linen, felt and woven straw to bring the calm of the outdoors inside and reflect the spirit of Kakheti,” Lominashvili and Dolidze explained.

“Soft colours combined with clean, modern elements create a space that feels both familiar and renewed.”

The bedrooms feature textural felt wall hangings by Georgian artist Mariana Chkonia that add a tactile, organic detail, while handwoven jute rugs are layered on top of the wooden floors.

Georgian woodworking atelier Wood Crafters produced several custom pieces for the rooms, including tables designed by 10:10 Interiors and built using reclaimed timber from a 100-year-old house.

The pared-back spaces feature simple furnishings such as high-backed Bergère chairs from Italian furniture maker Gervasoni, along with lighting designs from Danish brands Ferm Living and Hay.

The bathrooms are decorated with either black-and-white checkered tiles or white metro tiles with ceilings painted in a mustard hue.

The new guest rooms represent the latest expansion of the Lopota Lake Resort & Spa, which was established as a modest seven-room family treat in 2008.

10:10 Interiors was founded ten years ago by photographer and interior designer Dolidze and product designer Lominashvili.

Their work ranges from residential and hospitality projects to custom furniture and product design, often incorporating natural materials and local traditions in a contemporary way.

Lominashvili has also developed several of his own furniture projects, including a chair made from wood that resembles an insect and an angular metal chair that looks like an optical illusion.
