Harbour Hotel Guildford, Summer 2025

Bespoke interiors, elevated comforts and signature Harbour touches set to redefine the Surrey city stay

Harbour Hotels, one of the UK’s most distinctive luxury hotel groups, has announced a landmark £3 million refurbishment of its Guildford property, set to transform all 183 rooms and suites in a two-phase project. The first phase, launching this summer, will see 72 rooms reimagined with a fresh new look, just in time for late summer escapes.

Guildford’s leading luxury lifestyle hotel, Harbour Hotel Guildford, captures the cosmopolitan energy of the town’s thriving scene. Whether exploring the nearby Surrey Hills and the town’s boutiques, or staying in to enjoying cocktails at HarBAR Kitchen, Bar & Terrace or dining at one of Guildford’s top-rated restaurants, The Long Bar & Grill – both located within Harbour Hotel Guildford – it’s a go-to destination for spontaneous weekenders, romantic getaways or midweek spa breaks. Networking, conferences and team-building getaways also shine within the hotel’s eight flexible and fully equipped event rooms, making it suited to business as it is to leisure.

The refurbishment brings a fresh design narrative to every room, aligning Guildford with Harbour’s signature aesthetic seen across its celebrated portfolio. The new interiors layer a warm, earthy colour palette with rich textures, and thoughtful design details. Cove lighting in the ceiling and metallic bedside lamps create a cosy atmosphere, while artwork and a vintage-style rotary phone add personality and charm. The bed takes centre stage with a tufted leather, deep-buttoned headboard, Harbour’s trademark mattress, extra-large pillows and bespoke bolsters. Throughout, guests will find Harbour’s signature touches and comforts – including complimentary in-room gin – all combining to deliver an elevated yet welcoming city escape.

Technology has been seamlessly integrated into the guest experience, with Smart TVs equipped with Google Chromecast for content streaming, alongside Airtime’s Video on Demand service. A sleek new digital interface serves as an in-room guide, offering curated hotel information, restaurant and bar menus, and everything guests need at their fingertips.

Mike Warren, CEO of Harbour Hotels, comments: “We’re proud to be investing in the refurbishment of the bedrooms at our Guildford hotel. This reflects our commitment to maintaining Harbour Hotel Guildford as the leading luxury destination in the town, offering an experience that’s both elevated and unmistakably Harbour. With refined interiors, bespoke details, and our signature touches throughout, we’re confident the new rooms and suites will delight guests – whether visiting for business, relaxation or a stylish city escape.”

In a community-minded initiative, the hotel’s current beds will be donated to the local YMCA through its partnership with the appointed removals company.

The Guildford project is part of a wider evolution across Harbour Hotels’ portfolio of 14 luxury lifestyle properties – from Salcombe to St Ives and Richmond to Fowey – all designed to reconnect guests with a sense of place, comfort and escapism.
