JW Marriott has opened the JW Marriott Reston Station, its first property in Virginia. The 247-room hotel sits within Reston Station, a large mixed-use development in the Washington D.C. area. It marks a milestone for the brand as it expands its presence in Northern Virginia.
The hotel is part of a joint announcement from JW Marriott and Comstock Holding Companies Inc., which developed Reston Station as a transit-oriented community. With direct access to Metro’s Silver Line linking Dulles International Airport, Tysons Corner and downtown Washington D.C., the property is designed to offer visitors a balanced urban experience with meeting and leisure options.
“The opening of JW Marriott Reston Station is particularly meaningful for the brand, given its proximity to JW Marriott’s roots in Washington, D.C.,” said Bruce Rohr, VP and global brand leader, JW Marriott. “This hotel reflects the evolution of JW Marriott – where timeless luxury meets world-class hospitality. With the debut of our new Mindful Rooms concept and a continued focus on well-being, we are proud to continue JW Marriott’s legacy in Northern Virginia by offering guests an exceptional experience rooted in the brand’s rich heritage.”
The hotel offers guest rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows and regional views. It has 14 junior suites, 4 executive suites and a presidential suite. The property also debuts JW Marriott’s new Mindful Rooms and Floors concept. These rooms are outfitted with natural textures, soft lighting and an alcove equipped with a yoga mat, light weights and recovery tools. Guests booking these rooms receive a consultation on arrival to personalize their sleep and wellness routines.
Anchoring the property are three dining outlets. The Simon is a Mid-Atlantic restaurant with French and Mediterranean influences. Schar Bar is a lounge serving bespoke cocktails and a large wine collection. JW Market is a café with baked goods, sandwiches and specialties from executive pastry Chef Claus Olsen. A JW Garden grows herbs and produce for use across the hotel’s menus.
“JW Marriott Reston Station represents the culmination of Comstock’s decades-long vision to create a new, world-class, transit-oriented destination at Reston Station,” said Chris Clemente, CEO of Comstock. “This property not only elevates the region’s hospitality landscape, it also honors Reston’s founding vision as a community designed to seamlessly integrate living, working, and recreation in spaces that showcase public art by world-class artists, concerts, and other cultural events.”
Public art is a central feature at the hotel. Outside stands Building Bridges, a sculpture by Italian artist Lorenzo Quinn with six pairs of interlocking hands. It represents friendship, wisdom, help, love, faith and hope.
The hotel also introduces the region’s largest luxury meeting and event venue. More than 40,000 square feet of space includes an 11,700 square foot ballroom and multiple breakout rooms on one level with ceiling heights of up to 20 feet. These spaces are designed to handle events of up to 1,300 guests with technology support and staff assistance.
“Every detail at JW Marriott Reston Station is intended to provide a truly remarkable experience, inviting guests to be present in mind, body and spirit,” said Dewayne Wright, managing director, JW Marriott Reston Station. “We are honored to bring JW Marriott’s enduring legacy of mindful luxury to the heart of the Dulles Corridor and look forward to welcoming guests to Reston Station.”
