Park Hyatt Tokyo, Asia’s first Park Hyatt, announced it will reopen on December 9 following an extensive property-wide refurbishment that began in May 2024. Reservations for rooms, restaurants, events and spa experiences will open on September 24 for stays starting from the reopening date.

“As we celebrate more than three decades of welcoming guests to Park Hyatt Tokyo, this refinement represents both a homecoming and the beginning of a new chapter,” said general manager Fredrik Harfors. “We look forward to offering an experience that is refreshed yet familiar – one that resonates with returning guests and invites a new generation to discover Park Hyatt Tokyo as a place to truly reside, find relaxation and feel at home.”

The redesign, led by Parisian Studio Jouin Manku and inspired by the original interiors by John Morford, encompasses guestrooms, suites, The Peak Lounge & Bar and the Girandole by Alain Ducasse restaurant.

“We hope that when guests return, they will feel at ease and recognize the hotel’s spirit, while also sensing a renewed energy,” said Patrick Jouin, designer and co-owner. “It’s like a film remake: the same story, reinterpreted by different generations. The deeper you explore, the more you will notice a thoughtful balance – refined in a way that will remain relevant for another 30 years,” added Sanjit Manku, architect and co-owner.

Guestrooms and suites received the most significant transformation, with layouts softened to improve room-to-room flow from entry to bedroom and dressing area to bath. Bathrooms, inspired by traditional Japanese wet rooms where shower and bathtub share a space, now blend marble and wood for a sense of clarity and warmth. Amenities include Italian Frette linens, towels and bathrobes, Aesop skincare and haircare, Nespresso machines, Dyson hairdryers, Japanese “yukata” sleepwear and LG televisions with Bose smart soundbars in suites.

Girandole by Alain Ducasse will offer a modern take on Parisian brasserie cuisine with a focus on healthy cooking. Guests will experience a central culinary bar serving breakfast and transforming into a social hub with cocktails, wines and signature dishes throughout the day.

The Peak Lounge & Bar features a two-story glass atrium surrounded by bamboo. Afternoon tea and cocktails are served amid expanded sightlines, softer lighting and earthy color accents. Guests can enjoy urban views, sunsets over Mt. Fuji and evening live acoustic performances.

Park Hyatt Tokyo occupies the 39th to 52nd floors of Shinjuku Park Tower on the west side of Tokyo, a modern architectural building designed by Pritzker Prize-winner Kenzo Tange.
