Accor, a global leader in hospitality, is proud to announce the signing of Sofitel Genoa Waterfront, a landmark new luxury hotel set to open in 2027 on the city’s waterfront. Developed in partnership with AG Group, Italy’s leading integrated tourism operator, Sofitel Genoa Waterfront will bring French art de vivre to one of Italy’s most storied port cities.
With 120 guestrooms, including 20 suites, Sofitel Genoa Waterfront will offer a refined experience blending French elegance with the maritime heritage of Liguria. Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW), the architectural firm led by world-renowned architect Renzo Piano, known for iconic works such as The Shard in London and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the project will stand as a striking new symbol on the Genova waterfront. This project also sees the involvement of Orion and CDS Holding SpA as investors and developers of the Waterfront di Levante project, as well as this hotel, which forms an integral part of it.
The hotel will feature an all-day dining restaurant, lobby lounge bar, pool bar, spa, gym, swimming pool, and two meeting rooms, ensuring a complete luxury experience for both leisure and business travelers. Its privileged location will benefit from improved high-speed rail connectivity, linking Genova to Milan in only 53 minutes by 2026, while also offering easy access to Portofino and the Cinque Terre.
Founded over 20 years ago, AG Group is Italy’s first integrated tourism group, with operations spanning hotels, destination management, restaurants, and consulting. The company already operates a strong portfolio of high-end properties in Rome and beyond, and has partnered with leading global brands, including Accor, on projects across the luxury spectrum. As part of the redevelopment of the Genova Waterfront, the promoting company relied on the consultancy of Harry Mills Sciò, CEO of Fortvny, a boutique firm specialized in hotel advisory, who oversaw the process to identify AG Group as the operator.
With this signing, Sofitel continues its momentum in Italy, where the brand already operates a flagship property in Rome and has several developments in the pipeline including key cities like Milano, Venice or Palermo. Sofitel Genova will be the first true international luxury hotel in the city, filling a gap in a market still largely dominated by independent players.
