A new worldwide benchmark brings the same prestige to stays that stars brought to dining

Oct 10, 2025

The MICHELIN Guide has launched its first-ever Global MICHELIN Keys Selection, recognizing 2,457 hotels worldwide with One, Two, or Three Keys for exceptional hospitality. Mirroring the prestige of its restaurant stars, the new system establishes a global standard for hotel excellence—enabling travelers to book the world’s finest stays directly through MICHELIN’s digital platforms.

Key takeaways

New era for hospitality: The MICHELIN Key creates the first independent, global benchmark for hotel excellence, paralleling MICHELIN’s famous restaurant stars.

Global reach: 2,457 hotels across more than 120 countries received distinctions—1,742 One-Key, 572 Two-Key, and 143 Three-Key properties.

Regional highlights:

  • Europe leads with over 1,000 Key hotels, including iconic properties in France, Italy, and Germany.
  • Asia expands rapidly, with new Keys across China, India, and Southeast Asia.
  • Africa and Oceania debut with Keys for safari lodges, island resorts, and boutique retreats.

Experience-driven categories:

  • One Key: a special stay with distinctive character and standout service.
  • Two Keys: an exceptional stay with design, pride, and sense of place.
  • Three Keys: an extraordinary stay offering the pinnacle of luxury and memory-making.

Bookable via MICHELIN platforms: All Key hotels are available on the MICHELIN Guide website and app, featuring concierge services and VIP perks.

Special awards spotlight innovation: Four new honors celebrate excellence in architecture & design (Atlantis The Royal, Dubai), wellness (Bürgenstock Resort, Switzerland), local immersion (La Fiermontina Ocean, Morocco), and best new opening (The Burman Hotel, Estonia).

Why it matters: With the MICHELIN Key, travelers gain a trusted guide to the world’s best hotels, while the industry receives a transparent and influential quality standard that could redefine global hospitality benchmarks.
