A centrally located project in Budva’s seaside district
The future Crowne Plaza Budva will be located on the Slovenska obala promenade, steps away from the Adriatic Sea and close to key attractions including the Old Town and the marina. The 81-room hotel will include a sea-view restaurant, a rooftop terrace and flexible meeting spaces designed for business and leisure travellers.
For IHG, this development aligns with the group’s ambition to support Budva’s growing prominence along the Adriatic coast.
“Budva is a pillar of Montenegro’s tourism industry, and this project strengthens our presence in a key Adriatic destination. Crowne Plaza Budva will offer a premium experience, ideal for travellers seeking modern comfort and a connection to their surroundings.” – Willemijn Geels, Vice-presidente Development Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts
A local partnership anchored in Montenegro’s development
The project is being developed with Uniprom Hoteli, a local operator active in several areas of the hospitality sector. Its representatives, Veselin and Stevan Pejović, note:
“We want to create a place where modern comfort meets the unique charm of the Adriatic coast. Together with IHG, we believe this project will set a new benchmark for upscale hospitality in Montenegro.”
Once open, Crowne Plaza Budva will join IHG properties already established in the country, such as Regent Porto Montenegro, Crowne Plaza Podgorica and voco Podgorica.
A new milestone in IHG’s regional development
Montenegro forms part of a wider strategy for IHG in the Balkans, a region where the group currently operates 12 hotels with 10 more under development. The signing in Budva aligns with several ongoing projects in Albania, Serbia and other neighbouring markets.
As Willemijn Geels explains: “With more than 20 hotels open or in the pipeline across the Balkans, we continue to strengthen our commitment to dynamic markets such as Montenegro. Crowne Plaza Budva will complement our European portfolio, which includes 92 open hotels and 19 under development.”
A region that is drawing the attention of many global hotel groups, including Hyatt, which is targeting 70% growth in this market by 2027, Accor with multiple openings across the destination, and Radisson, which also recently announced a new property in Montenegro.
Crowne Plaza: a brand adapting to hybrid travel
With over 400 properties worldwide, the Crowne Plaza brand continues to modernise its positioning to meet the needs of hybrid travellers. The Budva hotel will integrate this refreshed identity, combining contemporary design with flexible spaces and amenities suitable for both corporate and leisure stays.
Upon opening, Crowne Plaza Budva will reinforce the brand’s presence in Europe and support the Adriatic region’s growing tourism landscape. The brand is also experiencing sustained growth in Europe, with another hotel revealed in Montenegro last year, as well as upcoming openings in Poland and near Disneyland Paris, both scheduled for next year.
